This is to bring everyone's notice! By no mean I intend to defame the Bhakti Vedanta Hospital and the trustees.
One of my friend's mother was admitted to this hospital in the wake of breathing issue. Various tests and CT Scan were performed post her admission to the hospital and it was found that there was water clogging her lungs(which was not severe told by the Dr. due to her heart history, a stent placement 5 years before! Dr. suggest to do an Angioplasty to check whether the patient's condition. For this Dr. has requested then present the family member(my friend) to pay for the same and taken her signature on the consent documents related to test, my friend requested the Dr. not to perform this test ever after she signed the consent letter(unknowingly). She wanted to check on the cost for this test and needed to arrange funds for the same. Meanwhile she find out all this issues which merely took 10 mins and return to the Dr. to further discuss on the cost of the test which was INR 24, 000 and it was very high, as other hospitals in this twin city offers the same test at INR 8, 000 to 13, 000 max. By the she returned to the Dr.(in 10 mins) they had already performed this test to her shock!
Now this is extremely shocking that Dr. had taken her written consent and did not wait for her final conformation, it is really tough to understand what was the urgency, when they can wait for hours for a emergency case(no treatment before money deposited like cases), why wouldn't the Dr. waited for her to give him the final go ahead for the test?
The hospital handed INR 75, 000 bill for 2 days of treatment, no surgical operation done in these 2 days mind you!
Let me give you an approx estimation for various services for this Hospital in this case.
ICU Ward - INR 4, 000 per day - for 2 days INR 8, 000/-
Angioplasty - INR 24, 000
Dr. consultancy - let's assume 1K per visit - they would do 2 visits per day, so for 2 days it will be 4 visits= INR 4, 000! But let me re-asses and double this to INR 8, 000(on a higher side)
Medicines & other exp. - INR 10, 000/- max
Grand Total - INR 50, 000(max)
I could be wrong in this math, but they billed her almost INR 75, 000 in total!
This really hard to understand.
I always have considered this hospital to be the best in locality and always had huge amount of respect for all doctors and staff of this hospital. I would always recommend this Hospital for everyone in need.
I really don't know what has gone wrong with the management to have decide to start looting the patients and behaving so arrogantly with their patients and their relatives.
I'm really sorry to say this but I'm really disappointed knowing this case and I have lost my faith completely.
