The team is as strong as it's the weakest link. There are many staff in the hospital who are service-oriented and transparent. I had got my mama admitted for pancreatic cancer. The entire team surgical oncology team handhold very well. Doctors like Dr. Dinesh, Dr. Dayanand, Dr. Shakthi. Such a wonderful team who supported me so well n took quick action when my mama went into a coma after a Whipple surgery. I still consider them as God for ensuring rebirth to my mama.
As I mentioned the weakest link finally killed my mama n he is no more now. After an operation dr. Mangesh Kamath took over the patient for chemotherapy n confirmed that he would need 6 cycles of chemotherapy. 2 cycles of chemo my mama managed it well n from 3rd cycle he started having an issue, my mama's legs and body started swelling. I started complaining that he is not able to lift his entire body n he is suffering from pain, dr. Mangesh Kamath started complaining that he doesn't appreciate a message even on an emergency n with all difficulties messaged me back to give him Dytor plus, despite giving Dytor he continued to have swelling n was not able to mobilize. Next chemo same was informed, dr. Mangesh Kamath did not address the albumin level being getting low gradually n did not even monitor that even with Dytor plus LS the urine level did not increase. My mama's body started accumulating water in his legs n lungs got infected as water started accumulating in his lungs too. On 31st Aug 2020 my mama developed uneasiness n pain in the abdomen took him to the hospital n after a drip he developed breathing difficulties n he was put on a ventilator.
On 1st September they realised that there is water accumulated in his lungs n lungs was infected, my mama came out of the ventilator immediately the next day. Though there was an issue with lung infection n cardiac issue dr. Mangesh Kamath started treating the patient without handing it over to the Pulmonary team for aggressive treatment as chemo patients need aggressive treatment without any delay. When asked daily dr. Mangesh Kamath said am irritating him. When I aggressively approaching the pulmonary team it was too late as the infection n water accumulation was huge in the lungs n finally my mama passed away on 20th Sep after being in ICU for 20 days. Initially, when the Pulmo team saw my mama they had insisted on CT scanning to the medical oncology doctor when the cross consultation was made on 4th Sep but there was a delay made n after 2 days my mama was not able to lie down for CT scan. Only on the 10th when I approached very strongly the aggressive treatment was started n moved the patient from the oncology department to the pulmonary department by then it was too late. Lots of conversation with dr. Rajeev n dr. Mangesh pleading to ensure my mama was treated well. Though I spent 6.5 lacs I could see no aggression from Dr. Mangesh on the treatment. Finally, I spent 10 lacs still couldn't get him back alive.
My mama would have been alive today if the medical oncology team ie dr. Mangesh Kamath would have handed over the patient immediately when they got to know that this needs a pulmonary department treatment or if they would aggressively start the treatment from day one by knowing the fact that the chemo patient would have very low immunity or the albumin issue was addressed on time one month back as soon his body started accumulating water n doctor would have anticipated the next consequences with the experience.
None of these things were made, finally, my mama passed away. Dr. Mangesh Kamath's n dr. Rajeev Vijaykumar had only one thing to say that they have followed the protocol.
