To build a team is different from being in a team.
Many of the management philosophers have emphasized a lot on effective team building because of its importance in the effective formulisation of goals and achieving them..
The four most important things to remember and implement for being a good team member are:
1]recognize
2]respect
3]react
4]reassure
Recognise:-
It is essential that we recognize the strength & weakness of our team members as well as ourselves. Everyone tend to have their own strength and weakness….nobody is perfect…If we had the same kind of attitude then all of us would be wearing the same coloured clothes….This is the first step of being in a team…
Respect:-
The next and obvious step after recognizing the difference is to respect the differences and reconcile with yours….
Like you everyone possesses self esteem and don’t like their ego to be hurt at any point of time…
Like any material possession respect must also be done in a give and take policy..
React:
The way we react to things captures the attention of the listener…
We ought to weigh our words ,because we cannot take them back.
The way we appreciate and criticize a person ,way we apologise etc ..does has an impact on each one of us..Most of us would have come across this situation in our personal as well as official life.
Usage of language and tone must be done selectively else the entire purpose of communication and feedback will be obviated.
Reassure:-
Once we have covered with the above mentioned basics we must reassure that the inference drawn by us is correct. This will increase our confidence while making the next step.
Most of us are aware of all that I have mentioned; yet somewhere or the other we tend to lose our patience and get hyper…and so the purpose of being in a team has gone for a toss…
These are just the basics we need to go into the intricacies and obtain more theoretical knowledge to put into practice..
Because it is the attitude and not the aptitude that determines the altitude of a person!!!!
