First things first.. a deep bow to Homi Adajania!
This director is surely going places! Being Cyrus is flawless in every aspect except the audience it caters to..
An english movie reaches a very small audience and thus quality cinema like this reaches and appeals only to the classes. Alas!!
The plot takes you by surprise... For the simple reason that it is refreshingly ORIGINAL!!
Narrated in Saif's voice, The Journey begins at Panchgani where the Sethnas live. The old secluded house has one quirky couple.. .Dinshaw ( Naseerudin shah ) and Katie ( Dimple Kapadia) are very mismatched and we see the obvious cracks in their relationship.
As the plot unfolds , the whole family and the feud between the two brothers comes to light. The brother in question is Faroukh ( Boman irani ) who is married to a seemingly demure and a docile wife Tina ( Simone Singh ). Until the intermission, very little makes sense. And the plot doesn't let you down post-interval either!
The background score deserves an applause so does the cinematography ( Watch out for Saif's dream sequence.. never looked more real!). The detailing of the characters is first-rate especially Saif's. The Dubbing has the right impact too.
Saif ali Khan surprises with the ease he plays his character. Cannot imagine anyone else in this character. Way to go man!
A genuinely good movie.
Go for it!
