After superb performance in Rockstar which really changed the way we look at Ranbir Kapoor. He delivered another smashing performance in a very sweet romantic emotional comedy flick  'Barfi!'. This is the character which the entire bollywood superstar is hungry about. Barfi! is just another climb ladder to Ranbir's successful performance. Barfi! delivers Ranbir Kapoor's cocktail performances of Charlie Chaplin, Raj Kapoor, Kishore Kumar, Mr. Bean and at the same time he still hold the roots of his character.

Barfi! is not going to be a 100cr record setter, nor another controversial real life story. It's the movie which redefines love, hope, holds the never say die spirit. Movie filmed in a 1970's set in Darjeeling is another reason which makes every scene realistic without any crap of item number.

If the success of a film lies in not only how much it entertains you while you are watching the film but also in the infinite moments that stay with you long after you have left the theatre, then 'Barfi!' is a clear winner.

Barfi! Not to compare with the ordinary typical love triangle stories. This one is quite extra-ordinary. Here, we are talking about a hero who cannot speak nor hear and the heroine is an autistic girl.  Yet, Barfi! was merely using all those plus points as props to set up a rather predictable tale. What you get in the end is a love triangle sweet, sublime and differently told, but obvious to the core anyway. There is a bit of a mystery in this story too, but it all ends without much of a surprise which was predictable.

Priyanka tries too hard to become Jhilmil (Which reminds me of Sridevi in Sadma) an autistic girl, and her effort shows in her performance. This role could have been a steal for the talented National Award-winning star. Instead, she chooses to play to the gallery. A little less wiggling of the fingers, a smaller twitch on the lips and a less elaborate roll of the eyes would have sufficed.

Debutante Ileana on the other hand does admirable, making most of her more simplistic role. She plays a typical bengali girl.

Saurabh Shukla does a full justice to his character. Aashish Vidyarthi did the same kind of role in which he has already achieved perfection.

Pritam's music reminds me of Charlie chaplin but still works with the storyline. Also, the title track and Aashiyan are the favourite one and comes at the right place at the right time. One thing that you would don't like about Barfi is the story is elaborated flashbacks, which are too many. Anurag didn't illustrate the movie in a straight forward way rather he took the Imtiaz Ali's funda of breaking story into pieces and then let the audience do the linking of stories part just like we saw in Rockstar which wasn't acceptable to wider audience. The story is narrated mainly by Shruti (Ilena) and others who make up Murphy's world. Another cons as I see is this movie can also be shortened to 90 mins rather than taking a slower pace which makes it a 2.5 hrs movie.

Nervtheless, Anurag Basu after the embarrassment of Kites, Barfi will basically bank on Ranbir power.

My ratings: 4.6 out of 5!
