I am an engineering student and had to apply for the state government scholarship, for which an account with Bank of Maharashtra was mandatory according to the scholarship form. So what I do is decide to walk up to the nearest branch of Bank of Maharashtra which is about 15 minutes from my place. I walk up to this counter called "CAN I HELP YOU" and the guess who was sitting on the other side of the counter??? THE SECURITY GUARD!!! . Never mind, I asked him for a form to open an account with the bank and he provided me with the form.
I wanted help in the format for filling up details of the form and so I had to walk up to one of the payment counters as the security guard on the help desk was too naive to help me out with the form details.
After almost 45 minutes of hard work, I completed filling up the 12 page form and 2 pages separately for the ATM service. Then got into the queue for form submission and stood in the queue for another 40 minutes.
Then the lady on the counter accepted my form and asked me to come back after 4-5 days and collect the passbook and the account number.
Then I go back to the bank after 5 days and collect my passbook, but the ATM card form has to be filled again for "GOD KNOWS WHAT" reason.I filled the form again and the lady on the counter said to comeback after I get a letter from the bank which will have the pin, at my place. The wait didn't just seem to get over as it was almost 2 months that I had filled the form for ATM card. So I decided to go to the bank and en-quire about the status.
Now the lady said that I'll have to fill the form again and the details of my card will be posted to the bank itself as my address might be a little too tricky for the postman to figure, and the details come from Tamil Nadu !!! (for Bank of Maharashtra) so the wait period might be around 15 days, but I had no choice but to oblige.
After 15 days I go back to the bank and wait in the queue for 1 hour to get to the lady on the counter, just to hear that I have to come back after 5 days. I was so frustrated , I just walked into the Bank Manager's cabin and had to explain the entire scene.
He said I have to wait for 5 days as I don't have a second choice for now, and if I don't get the details after 5 days then, stern action will be taken(but he didn't tell me against whom). In the middle of all this I got the chance to click a PHOTO of what the lady on the counter was doing, and I'm sharing it here. There were people standing in the queue and the lady was busy playing card games on her system.
Ultimately after a lot of struggle, I finally got my ATM card and pin, and as soon as my scholarship amount was credited in my account, I withdrew the amount and closed my account
Long Story Short, don't ever opt for this bank
