Hi !

Somewhere I read about avenger and the writer stated that the avenger is not reliable enough only because it's bajaj product. I'm Sure that bajaj is taking every care to boost the sell of this bike, as I see more avengers on road today as compared to the six months ago.

The Only problem seems with this bike is its weight. which is somewhat difficult to handle in heavy traffic. Also the gear shifting sometimes gives problem, it never come to neutral and jumps to first gear.

My experiences with this bike are good. The only fact is you should understand your bike properly ! After First service , the bike's sound was horrible and gears were not easy to shift. The gear shift problem was resolved automatically after 2 days. When I examined the engine, while bike was on stand, I noticed that they (the techies from bajaj) increased the RPM of the engine by pouring more fuel. Which was costing me 10 Km less mileage (earlier it was 48 KMPL now it was 37Kmpl). As I drive 52Km everyday , it wasn’t economical for me at all. Till now I didnt got any answer why they increase the engine speed. According to my friends, this is done for every bike. However one of my friend suggested me to search for a engine tuning screw , which I found and rotated it anticlockwise till the engine stops, then I rotated it clockwise after starting the engine again , and set it to the appropriate point where the engine speed is low and stays in ''ON'' condition.

After above setting , my avenger now gives an average of 57Kmpl , huge difference , isn't it ?. I've noticed following problems which can be overcome while riding.

1) The pickup has dropped somewhat.

2) The engine get's off if you release the accelerator full for some time (2-3 minutes).

I'm looking for reviews from bajaj bike owner for the same matter.

regards,

Shashank Parab

Buddy,
The problems you mentioned were because you've leaned up the Carburettor mixture setting. Take it back to Bajaj and ask them to give you a proper setting. The reason why they had increased the idling RPM (Rich Mixture) is to give your bike...a little smoother initial running. Let the mixture be the same till at least 3K Kms. Then, ask Bajaj techies to change the setting to Lean mixture (mileage oriented). Then, the engine life will also be good and you'll get approximately the same mileage as u mentioned (55-57 Kmpl)
