There is an English phrase that says ‘Look Before You Leap’. It means to watch the step carefully you are about to take so as to avoid any trouble later. My review goes by this proverb.
In a time when the life of people have been flooded with luxuries and facilities, it is undeniable that the level of scams have also periodically increased. Now we all find the need of banks in our life mostly for two purposes:
a.) To safeguard our money, and
b.) To make use of the facilities like loans, online payment which comes naturally once we open an account in the bank.
And to support this fact, there are a dozen of banks out there each claiming to be the best among the others. While some of them are definitely good enough to have an account with, few are just a big no. The subject of my review is Axis Bank.
My dad has been a member of the Axis family since the time he joined his contractor business and all his payments and transactions are handled through this one bank. While I don’t claim it to be the worst bank ever, there are a few reasons which I find strong enough to not open an account with Axis Bank. Some of them are:
1.) Minimum balance problem – I don’t know why these private banks indulge in such minimum balance issues and that too such high. When it comes to HDFC, its understandable but Axis Bank having a minimum Rs.5000 balance procedure is too much. Though most of the people don’t have the minimum Rs.5000 balance problem with their Axis Bank account, my dad does have it and when we inquired with the banks officials, they were like we are responsible for it. Ask me why, I am clueless.
2.) Frequent deduction of charges – There is this ATM maintenance charge, other ATM usage charge, checkbook annual charge, minimum balance limit crossed charge and what not. Sometimes it feels like more of a prison and less of a bank. There are too many charges which are quite un-necessary and every time Rs.25-30 are constantly deduced from the account.
3.) Replacing ATM card – I remember once when my dad’s debit card turned all weary, we decided to replace it for a new card. Now they show in the TV and ads how easy it is to bank with them, trust me, its quite the opposite. After having made a request for the card replacement, we waited for the bank to summon us. When they didn’t, dad himself went for the required procedures. Once completed, they told us we would get our card in a week. However the card arrived after about a month and that too, we had to fetch it from the bank. Too much for the customers heh?
Its not that Axis Bank is not recommended but our experience with this bank has not been that pleasant of sorts so I would give it a two star for its service. You are free to try it out.
