When I first learnt how to drive, I thought I would stick with Automatic for the rest of my life. I had no one to teach me and was alittle uneasy about learning to drive a Standard Transmission. I drove Automatic for roughly 3 years and then I met, my now soon to be fiance.

At the time we met he was driving truck and would leave me his car to drive while he was out on the road, no problem it was automatic. Things slowly progressed and he found a job through one of my friends in our city. He needed a newer vehicule in order to complete his job, that brought us to looking for a new car. He was very persistant with wanting a Standard and I in turn very worried as I would not be able to drive it.

He of course bought himself a Standard vehicule telling me he would teach me. Now we come to the hard part, he TRIED teaching me how to drive standard. Everytime we went I could not get the hang of it and would end of having a breakdown about how'I was never going to learn' about a week later we were out and about and he told me to drive, beyond my amazement I could drive it with very little problems.

To this day I am still driving standard and putting it mildly my fiance is a bit perturbed as I now drive better than he does. smiles

So to those wondering if they can.You never know till you try.and DONT give up!
