Asus Ultra Book S56CA:
Day by day technology are being upgraded and updated. So, for an individual who is passionate about information sector and for those leaner/business organization dependent on computers, to get efficient output, it is necessity to be updated and upgraded simultaneously.
Last year when I bought I3 2nd generation computer, I was feeling outdated within a month(As MSc Applied Maths student, I needed above average configuration), but its NVIDIA graphic card has made my configuration performing till satisfactory level. So, In this golden era of technology, we need to have a good research of configuration before buying computers. At the same time, different parameters of cost and post buy servicing can't be avoided.
*If you are reading this review hoping to buy new computer/laptop, you need to give a few days of research, consult with your friends who have a knowledge of computer configuration, compare their specification on online store and don't even forget to check their reviews. This not only saves your time from roaming around market for product but also helps you by reducing your burden on cost and avoid post-buying problems.
What you also need to remember is if you not buying it from official store, you need to to check the reliability of seller. A small tampering can cost you higher! More ever, if you are in metro cities, prefer computer markets to online market. A good bargain can help you gain in cheaper price. Let me go towards my review. Choosing Asus was not a planning but sudden choice as it had met the requirement.*
Necessity:
My friend needed the minimum the i5 3rd generation laptop with windows for study and normal entertainment use. We needed to install dozen of gigabytes software and we needed machine which can be of proper use till next three or four years.
But at the same time, cost factor was also needed to be consider. The higher brand like of Sony, Dell or HP was being too expensive while Lenovo, Samsung, HCL had a very bad experience with our Hostel friends. The remaining choice was Acer but we found a better product of equivalent in same configuration for similar price.
Asus UltraBookS56CA:
At a glance, you will fall in love with its shining Aluminium Outer Cover. It is the first thing that differentiates you from remaining laptop, but the one that will catch your eyes is its ultrabook feature. Ultra-book performs efficiently than normal laptops but are heavier than notebook.
Their price are ranged in midway between Laptop and notebook. Because of its lighter weight, optical disk and few other configuration are disregarded in Notebook but owning Ultrabook generally needn't compromise. My review experience is based upon 45 days of usage.
== Inner Configuration:- ==
Intel i5, 3rd Generation Clock Speed 1.7 GHZ with Turbo boost upto 2.6 GHZ.
Intel HD graphics 4000.
4 GB DDR3 RAM, 750 GB HDD, 24 GB SSD, DVD drive available.
Windows 8 64 bit.
15.6 inch Ultrabook with full keyboard.
Approx 2.30 kg weight
Asus Ultra Book S56CA comes with Intel i5, Core 3rd Generation processor that will at least not make you feel have lower level configuration. Though 4th generation of Intel i5 was available on market in first week of November, but it lacked user feedback so we were bit careful. Its clock speed is 1.7 GHz with Turbo Boost Upto 2.6 GHz(Clock speed is technical term which measures how fast your CPU(Central processing unit also termed as processor) can complete basic computations and operations. Its local cache is 3 MB(Higher the cache memory, higher the performance) while it has 4 GB DDR3 RAM extendable up to 8 GB . So, according to your need, you can add one more 4 GB RAM if you need which will cost you additional INR 1100, but normally 4 GB DDR3 RAM is sufficient for normal use.
Its hard disk capacity is 750 GB. This amount will be sufficient for you to save your favorite movies, music and lots of other stuffs. It also has 24 GB SSD hard disk.(Solid State Drive are the one that helps our computer boot faster and perform better).
This 24 GB SSD helps you to boot your ultrabook in no moments and makes you available for your task. This is one of the thing which you will really like in it Normally, when laptop is more than one month old, it starts getting slower because of number of installed applications and at some moment, even I was fed up of waiting for more than five minute.
The charm of original Windows 8 makes you feel different as you realize you are not using pirated software anymore. So, in one way, you can be free to update your OS. But this Ultrabook is not for touch-version which is ultimate aim of Windows 8. You can experience as if it is a different platform even if you had used windows 7. Believe me, it feels good to use original software and when we are getting it as package, we should support Microsoft.
This UltraBook doesn't have dedicated Graphic card but its Intel HD graphics 4000 placed with i5 3rd generation is good enough to watch any HD movies. I am not sure about high graphics Game though as I hardly play game but when its about movie and normal graphics you will love this Ultrabook.
Unlike Notebook, this Ultrabook has DVD drive that doesn't ask you to compromise just with pen drives for transferring data. It also has 3 USB port with one dedicated for USB 3.0.
Performance:
Battery Backup:- I was bit concerned with its battery backup, but my worries vanished up once it was used for a week. It gives 3 to 3.5 hours normal battery backup for maximized use. This is the only one place where it lags to its Acer rival. The Acer store had promised the similar configuration machine 5-6 hours of battery back, not sure to what extent it was true, still, in urban areas, it is ok. If you are using it just for reading purpose, it can last few more hours or while watching offline movies, turning of WiFi and quitting other applications may give you better performance.
Minimal heating:-
I like this technology of Asus where it keeps Ultrabook cooler than normal laptop. The Asus store said that horizontally in motherboard, there is a thin cooler pipe which reduces heating of laptop. It is true. unlike other laptops, heating is minimal here and this has helped in optimal performance of Ultrabook.
Digital Sound:
You will love this sound quality. You don't feel like needing any extra speaker and inbuilt sonic sound device gives you wonderful time with media. Watching movies is exciting and more ever, with 15.6" screen you will find perfect time of entertainment.
Extra file Installation:
This is the place where I had to collect some patients. Installing any bigger file takes comparatively larger time than other normal laptop. This must be because of presence of 24 GB SSD. If that is so, it is still OK! Because this is eventually reducing the breakup.
Service Center:
for as now, I am not in need of Asus Service center because the Ultrabook is new. Still, the word of mouth is not bad though it may not be as good as Acer and HP. Check the other reviews to know Asus service center work or do let me know if you have experienced anything.
3 Years Warranty:
Because of Diwali time there was offer for 2 years extended warranty. Always ask for extended warranty even if it is costing you two thousand bucks extra. This can save your money in future.
Price:
Finally the price. Its online price is about 41 thousand. But we had visited Nehru place and with effort of some bargain we could get it for 40.5 thousands. Buying it directly from store center might have cost us few hundreds more, but it is always advisable to buy from official store.
Conclusion:
So, according to me, it is a good buy. In market, if you buy i3/i5 3rd generation, the device might cost you up to 35000 or 40000. More ever, if you going for higher brand like as Dell or Sony, you might be adding up 6 to 10 thousand extra. With the main features of being i5 3rd generation, 24 G.B
