In the Gollywood Industry, sometimes a 50 Crore budget movie turns down its Producers & at times a very low budget film becomes a Super-Dooper Box Office Hit ! Arindhum Ariyamalum (meaning : the knowns & not knowns) is one such low budget latest release without much of a Star value as well, but still has become greatly successful !!
Story
Sathya is brought up by his grandfather who belongs to a very Orthodox Brahmin family in Nagercoil & Sathya has no information about his father. His uncle supports him a lot and while the grandpa is too strict about Sathya doing his higher studies at the same village itself, the uncle gradually convinces him to send the boy to Chennai to do his Engineering. The happy boy steps into the modern Chennai and during a few occasions comes across the aggressive Thug Kutti (Actor Arya) who keeps fighting with other goons on the road.
At Chennai, Sathya stays with Krishna as advised by his grandfather & Krishna’s ambition is to become a great Actor. Krishna has a troop of Actors, for whom Sathya becomes the Coordinator at a weekly wage of Rs.200/-. In the troop, he meets his dream-girl Sandhya, whom he had already met at his village. Sathya becomes friendly to her family and one day when he goes for a shopping with Sandhya, the thug Kutti by mistake shoots Sandhya. Sathya rushes her to the hospital & gradually love blossoms between the two.
Sathya goes to the Police Station to identify the Criminal, while no one else was bold enough to do so. Kutti’s father Adinarayanan (Actor : Prakash Raj) orders his men to kidnap Sathya to finish his life, but is moved by the boy’s innocent looks. But soon, Prakash Raj comes to know that Sathya is his own son where the story takes a sudden twist.
Here comes a brief Flashback of Prakash Raj’s wife Lakshmi parting with him and her father hides to Prakash Raj that a boy baby is born for him after Lakshmi passes away during her delivery.
The rest of the story is the interesting part of Prakash Raj pleading his son Sathya to live with him and Kutti trying to charm his brother Sathya in his best possible way, while Sathya is pretty scared by their rowdy-ism. Most of the scenes after this are exceedingly humorous & you are sure to enjoy the wonderful acting of Prakash Raj & Arya. In between, the new Deputy Commissioner, unable to find any evidence against the crimes of the two leading gangsters Adinarayanan (Prakash Raj) and Kutti (Arya), gets a confidential order from the Collector for an encounter of the two and performs the same. But clandestinely, the two escape and Sathya finally reciprocates their affection ….!!!
The Characters
• The new face Arya has performed extremely well as the tough thug ‘Kutty’. Both in fights as well as in scenes where he tries to convince his brother Sathya to live with them, he has rendered a very natural acting. Even his dance movements in the songs are damn good ! Arya surely has a bright future in Gollywood!!
• Prakash Raj as always, has lived as character ‘Adhi Narayanan’. He is perfectly suitable to his character in the film and in the sequences where he faces the new Police Commissioner, he has very casually rendered his dialogues. When his tough heart melts on getting to know that Sathya is his own blood, he excels as a kind & responsible father !
• The new face Navdeep as ‘Sathya’ looks very innocent and perfectly suitable for the role. He has tried to show a few good facial expressions and has succeeded a little too ! Can do a bit better during his next attempt.
• The new Police Commissioner Thigarajan (Actor : Aditya) is an apt choice for the role. He has a perfect physique and his dialogue delivery is very good. If given an opportunity, he has undoubtedly got a bright future in the field !
• The new face Shamiksha as ‘Sandhya’ looks good, but has been used in the film as just 1 out of a 100 showy heroines. She doesn’t have much of a part to play in the movie in general even in any romance scenes. But in the few song sequences, she has performed good.
Other + Ses:
The unexpected twists now and then in the Screenplay is what that makes the movie an interesting piece ! The Screenplay for such a simple storyline has been carved with good care. The beats in most of the songs are enjoyable – Good efforts by Yuvan Shankar Raja, but a little more clarity is required in the lyrics in almost all the songs. You can watch the movie just once if not for anything else, at least for the humorous scenes by Kutty and Adhi.
