"A thing of beauty is a joy forever
Its loveliness increases, it will never
Pass into nothingness" -- A Thing of Beauty, John Keats
There was once a young shepherd who was in Love with Cynthia, The Moon Goddess. He once dreamt of her & was overwhelmed by her beauty. The enchanted youth resolved to seek
her out and so wandered away through the forest and
down under the sea. His Love for her kept on intensifying. They say that your love for something ceases when you actually possess it. It is better if you keep seeking it.
In my case, it is just the opposite – well sort of. For a long time now, I was actually looking forward to possess an Apple product. Finally, I got an Apple iPod Nano 7th Generation for $149. When I actually possessed it, my Love for it is constantly increasing. It is kind of addictive.
Design – 5/5
I was always fascinated by iPod designs. Initially I was kind of skeptical about the design of this tiny iPod-Nano 7g given that the previous version of iPod Nano was kind of flop. Therefore, I was planning to go for iPod Classic. Give the bulky size of iPod Classic, I thought otherwise. Apple has always given more importance to the design specifications of all Products starting from iPod to iPad and this one is no exception. Housed in a brilliant packaging (Apple is giving more importance to Green technology now), the iPod is simply a prized possession to anybody. Given that there are so many blatant colors in which this iPod comes, I cleverly chose Black and it looks best. Loaded with a 2.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen Multi-Touch display, it is nothing much to boast of. Yet it looks sleek, slim and outright sexy.
Ergonomics – 5/5
3 inch size in length, it is quite small but fits well in hand. Studded with Apple’s signature Home button which you will commonly notice in iPhone, it is a may seem as a small alias of iPhone. Multi-Functional Volume buttons are present on the top left hand side and is well accessible. The Power/Sleep button is cleverly placed at the top right hand corner and is quite accessible.
Technical Specifications – 5/5
The Apple iPod Nano 7g can play Music, Video, Radio, Podcasts and View Photos. Loaded with a new set of Ear-Pods (Headphones), these in-ear headphones sound brilliant. Noticeable change is the transition from Apple iPod’s 30-pin-connector to the Lightning Connector. It is small, new and fits better. This is the first version of iPod that comes with Built-in Bluetooth 4.0 technology. Pairing iPod with Bluetooth-enabled headphones and supported speakers is a now a sleek job. The Fitness+ feature helps to track Calories burnt during work outs (walks and runs).
Star Features:
The Touch is simply awesome. Pinch-to-Zoom works wonders.
In-Built equalizers offers a wide array to choose from.
“Invert Colors” is a brilliant feature. Works wonders and make the UI display intuitive.
Fitness+ feature is a must for regular work outs.
Live Pause Radio allows to pause Live Radio and rewind the same.
Cons:
1. Wallpaper options are limited.
2. No Apps can be downloaded.
3. Screen size could have been better.
Overall, it is a safe bet altogether and is a must for iPod lovers. In India, it is priced at 12,500 INR although I got it for $149 from US.
