Being an Apple user for quite some time, I have always looked forward to the release of the 16 series, especially with the launch of iOS 18. Larger screen sizes, longer battery life, improved performance, and the introduction of Apple Intelligence have pushed this phone further than any of its predecessors. Build quality and performance are the two main factors that make you fall in love with this device. After using it for a month, here is my in-depth review of the iPhone 16 Pro:
First Impressions:
Despite a size upgrade from the 15 Pro, the 16 Pro definitely feels lighter in your hands. An all-titanium frame gives it a premium feel. The camera control button takes time to get used to. If you already have a Pro model, this phone might feel a bit difficult to use with one hand. The cameras look great as always. The first thing you’d notice is that the smaller model gains the 5x telephoto lens, which was previously exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max. With larger batteries, I could use the phone for an entire day on a single charge. Apple never compromises on displays. The 120Hz refresh rate feels smooth and the gameplay is amazing. All-in-all, the iPhone 16 Pro felt like a complete package.
Performance:
Over the week, I ran several intensive games like Genshin Impact and Asphalt 9, and the phone didn’t break a sweat. The Bionic A18 chip works like a beast. It is very responsive and feels future-proof, adapting to different apps simultaneously. The ProMotion displays had perfect contrast and the colors felt vivid. Even the cameras did not disappoint. The 48 MP wide-angle camera was the best I have experienced. The 5x telephoto also churns beautiful images even in low light. A significant upgrade has been the selfie camera which struggled during videos and low-light conditions. The 4k video recording at 60 fps with 3D spatial audio is perfect for vloggers and work calls.
New Features:
The camera control button was probably the most-talked-about hardware feature. Personally, I found it off-putting and oddly placed. While the idea is innovative, the execution could have been better. It takes time to get used to, and it's easy to accidentally trigger it. The response time also felt a little high occasionally. Another new upgrade was the Apple Intelligence. It is a great addition and does make a few tasks like content summaries and photo editing easier. The Siri also feels upgraded and more conversational, rather than the old, boring version. Apart from this, the software is identical to the 15 Pro. All-in-all, the iPhone 16 Pro is a decent upgrade if you are using an iPhone 13 or an older version.
Final Thoughts:
iPhone 16 Pro is a great buy and the best Pro model in my opinion. It is almost on par with the 15 Pro Max. Moreover, Apple hasn’t increased the launch price of the phones in the 16 series. With improved battery life and a similar camera to the 16 Pro Max, the 16 Pro does not compromise on anything. The size feels perfect in your hands and the amazing display is great for viewing any type of content. I hope the software updates make the iOS 18 experience better in the future.
