Angels and Demons is neither angelic nor demonic, its just pulp!

This is the second book of Dan Brown that I read, after the best selling Da Vinci Code, with Harvard symbologist David Langdon again as the hero.

The book is of a period prior to the Da Vinci code and again contains a lot of nonsense parading as facts.

I picked the book while on a train journey and for this purpose it?s an ok read. It?s fast paced and keeps moving and one need not tax one?s mind while reading. This definitely is not a book I would keep going back to again and again as I do with some other Authors.

The plot revolves round the supposed conflict between science and the Catholic Church and the machinations of a charismatic priest in the Vatican who goes about creating murder and mayhem and blaming science for it. All this just to demonize science and make the catholic religion preeminent. The plot is well devised butthe book is poorly researched, and Dan brown seems to have his facts wrong on many points.

A howler is equating Hatha yoga as a Buddhist meditation method and the heroine promising great sex just because she is a yoga expert! How misguided can you be.

The book follows Dan Browns usual formula of an unsuspected villain (You suspect him the most), a murderous henchman, and lots of obtuse signs in which our Hero shows of his skills. After a lot of running around and talking of secret societies and related mumbo jumbo, doing all sort of foolish things ( like warning the murderous henchman after coming behind him unseen!) miraculously escaping death many a time our valiant hero finally triumphs! And gets his reward in the form of the yoga adept heroine!

The book is absolute trash touted as a Brain teasing adventure my brain only wondered why this book is rated so high. This is just a pulp fiction novel and not a time less classic. The plot is thin and predictable, the action goes on and on, the dialogues and settings are commonplace and the book does not really have any new thought ideas etc. in it.

Let me put it this way this is no meal but a fast food snack great in taste but ultmately harmful to the body! :)

You can safely speed read the book and not miss anything. I recommend that one should borrow this book from a friend or library it is not worth while to purchase it.
