I had 2nd Generation FireTV Stick for 2 years and recently remote stopped working. I sold it in OLX for 800 without remote. Overall I am satisfied but disappointed as well that it stopped working just in 2 years. There are no service center or aftermarket parts I can buy easily. Only option to buy a new one so this time I switched to MI TV 4k just lunched in Flipkart for 3500. The points I don't like in FireTV as below:
Outdated Hardware with overloading OS. 1GB RAM, 1.2 Quadcore unspecified CPU, 8GB ROM. Bhaisaaaaab!!!
Very much Overpriced, its like I paid for Amazon logo not for the device. Just like old days people paid for BlackBerry phone.
Outdated features which not even close to Android Certified TV OS.
No practical service center or support in India. You are lucky if your device still functions. Congratulations!!
No aftermarket cheap parts available or supported by the device. Example like Remote, Charger, LAN cable etc. Original parts will cost 50 to 80% of the actual device cost. You can buy a small TV in that price.
The fact is only buy if you are a diehard fan of Amazon FireTV. Else there is no sense to buy this in this price point at 2020 except its available 80% discounted price. Waiting for Amazon to introduce the newest version soon. I cant deny this fact that when FireTV lunched it was ahead of its time but now unfortunately its outdated. Its upto your decision now. I just reviewed my very personal opinion about the device.
