After years of struggling with pathetic local internet providers who falsely advertise as fiber but provide regular cable connections, finally Airtel Broadband launched in my apartment. Initially I was bent upon going for Jio Fiber as in the past my experience with Airtel mobiles wasn't good.
Barely one day after filling up the forms, the service personnel arrived to set up the connection and the installation was done in an hour.
As they had promised, the fiber to home connection gave 200 Mbps consistent speed with no drops for even a second. Occasional, rare service disruptions were notified in advance and the services used to get restored on time.
When called with problems, the personnel who arrive are very professional and ensure you are satisfied with the service before they leave.
Some users seem to be complaining about speed disruptions. However the point to note is that the fiber-to-home service is the USP of Airtel Broadband. If your locality has a franchise provider, the person is likely to distribute a single line to multiple connections through copper based cables and that can cause throttling.
Airtel Broadband turned out to be the lifesaver for several months of work from home and the speeds during download were so great that I had been able to download several GBs of movies from sharing sites. In fact it hardly took less than an hour to back up my entire laptop onto a cloud drive when I had to format it.
Airtel as a company though faced challenges from Jio in the telecom sector, their Broadband surely beats every other ISP in the country. As for pricing, the higher bandwidth plans are priced far lower than what is charged by competitors. For that matter even the cheapest 50 Mbps plan has a rental lower than competitors who provide only 30 Mbps for the same rent.
