Airtel- World's No.1 Digital Fraud Company. Initially, I was using BSNL and I was fed up with low speeds. In the Airtel portal, I saw that its offering fiber optic internet connection Airtel Xstream Fiber. I registered for the service on 11th Nov 2020 for Rs.499 plan that offers Unlimited internet with speed up to 40Mbps.
The salesperson with the name MOHAMMED MOIN immediately called me and promised that I will get a 40Mbps download speed for my location Cubbon Pet, Bengaluru and I could connect 10 devices and the speed will be constant. Listening to him I agreed to the connection. He asked my Aadhar, photo to be sent to his WhatsApp number: 72046 1XXXX. He initiated the process and asked me to pay Rs.1768 for installation and a 1-month subscription. I paid the amount online.
The service staff came the same day and installed the connection. He brought the same outdated DSL router which was the same as the BSNL router, I started feeling cheated that it would be the same copper cable fixed Landline technology and I asked the service staff about the optic fiber. He said that I have to wait for 2 more months. So I somehow convinced myself to wait. The service staff before asking me to check the internet, insisted I sign on his mobile screen, so I signed on it which was a very big mistake. After signing, I checked the speed of the internet and was disappointed to see that the speed was not even 4Mbps. I complained to the service guy and he escaped saying that his duty is only to provide the connection and for speed-related stuff, I have to check the salesperson or I have to raise a complaint.
I decided to go to the Airtel Care center and before that, I checked my email and I got an email from Airtel with Installation Report. I opened the pdf attached to the email and was doomed to see that the speed they provided is only 8 Mbps and the tariff opted for is Airtel-UL-Xstream Value 499 Unlimited GB(8Mbps/1024Kbps) COMBO Plan.
And the signature that I signed on the mobile screen of the service guy was appearing on the signature section of the pdf and legally binding me that I am obliged with the Airtel terms and conditions. Now I got to know that I am totally cheated by Airtel. Even after visiting the customer care, they only took the complaint which is of no use, and as I myself had signed on the Installation report that the agreed speed is 8Mbps. Even the customer care guy argued to me that the speed is up to 40Mbps and the speed I am getting is as per the plan. Guys, beware of the term 'Up to', this is totally a jhumla. Also, in the Installation Report, they didn't even mention the amount of Rs. 1768 that I paid towards installation. This is huge fraud by Airtel and no transparency and integrity in the service they provide. Airtel is a complete fraud.
