New Meaning of KBC-2

For an U.P. East Airtel subscriber it means : Kaun Banega Crorepati? Toooo?

Teraa kyaa hoga, Customer?

The Airtel staff here at UP East circle based at Lucknow, behaves in a way that is causing customers lose their money and Airtel lose it’s brand image. U.P.(E) Airtel staff, is not at all concerned about losing the customers, their sympathies and in the long run it’s going to cause Airtel lose everything. One day this staff may start saying to customer, Cusht hai toh mar., meaning to hell with your problems.

Airtel emerging as a poor brand

My father Mr. Yagya Dutt Sharma(83), a freedom fighter, applied for Airtel when the services were just launched here in U.P. and he started getting bills from a period one month before his number (99350 90095) activation. Fter complaing for three months, eventually he surrendered his SIM and the Rs. 900 security deposit as well. Within a month he bought a BSNL connection and he is happy now. Airtel lost one user. It may be immaterial for the paid employees Airtel have but may be important for the company’s image as a brand of having poor customer relations.

Airtel strikes again

Now I faced the similar fate. I have an official BSNL mobile connection apart from other fix line numbers. Since these numbers are official and I always have non-stop callers, so I decided to have a secret personal number to be used during holidays and vacations. One of my friends was not using his prepaid Airtel connection (99357 23768). He gave me his SIM on October 29, 2005, which has a validity upto 27 November 2005.

Airtel ka system kharab hai

As soon as I inserted the SIM into my cell, one SMS was received from Airtel luring me that if I charge it with any amount more than Rs. 200, I will be gifted Rs.50 as additional talktime as a Dewali bonzana.

I immediately purchased two recharge coupons, one of Rs. 200 (number 2058 3811 4402 9955) and was shocked when the account was not credited to my number, then I purchased another coupon of Rs. 120 (2039 3948 5772 4675) and followed the instructions to recharge it. To my surprise, this recharge also failed.

In a fury I rushed to the Airtel head Office at Lucknow and met one lady customer relations manager, who declined to give her identity (height 5’7”, fair complexion, good looks and behaved decently), she told me flatly that this is a system error and others are also facing the similar problem.

The unidentified lady told me that the amounts (Rs. 200+120) will be credited to my prepaid account by the 6 PM (of October 29, 2005). Needless to say that nothing happened. Wakai mein, Airtel ka system kharab hai

I tried several times to get a help from 99351 99351 but nobody is listening. Nothing is being done. The Airtel call centres are equally incompetent and unable to render any help.

I am worried, shaken and shocked, because I know at this rate Airtel will surely go Titanic one day.
