I'm with Airtel since last two and a half years and this is just because my number is availabe to my clients globally. I cannot change this number due to commercial reasons so I need to stick to their service and their nasty support system.
I know this is not a place to file my complaints but I'm supposed to file a honest review of Airtel here. To the best of my knowledge, Airtel network coverage is just fine and I have not faced many problems from that point of view.
There are number of Value Added Services which my friends have explained on mouthshut.com so repeating them doesn't make any sense to me.
When choosing an operator one looks for;
Good Voice Clarity : Available with Airtel
Good Network Coverage : Just Fine. Never had a problem even when roaming.
Easy to understand billing : Airtel doesn't fit here as I'm not able to understand their bills especially for the months when I'm roaming.
Easy paymeants : Well its been easy so far as I use Netbanking to pay and Airtel has tie ups with most of the banks.
Good Support : This is where Airtel SUCKS!!
The support staff speaks without adding any compliment and title and say, ''Naveen, this will take nearly three hours.''
I wonder if they changed their policies to add ''Mr.'' or ''Sir'' before they address the clients. If you talk to them politely, your problems will never be solved. Try the other way and they will talk to you politely and will start addressing you as ''Mr./Ma'am/Sir'' and your problems will take only a few minutes.
Also one problem with Airtel is that you get a LOT of service SMSs and Contest SMSs and you cannot unsubscribe from them.
Its been a pain to find out your phone and read the SMS you just got about a Sachin Tendulkar Contest when you are driving or are in the middle of a business meeting. Since I have SMS banking facility and we have nearly 5-6 transactions a day and SMS alerts help so I need to stay alert about all that is happening with the accounts so its important that I go through SMSs as they arrive. While waiting for an important payment to be credited to your account, how does it feel to get a Contest SMS??
I feel like sueing them for wasting my time at number of times. Pity... I can't do that.
