I happened to fly on our national carrier air india from Doha to Mumbai on 4th june 04 in business class. The aircraft arrived at doha late.
Once we boarded the business class it was a shock almost all rear seats were stuffed with lugguages and the interiors looked run down. The business class cabin was smelling. There were two overage male maharashtrian crew - courtesy balashaeb thackeray- who served us erratically.
At the time of take off the plane was making funny noises and it seemed as if though we were travelling by auto. The landing was horrible again weird noises due to old aircraft. The food wad horrible and never again will travel by air india. While on my way to doha happened to travel my qatar airways.
The air craft was barnd new and the cabin crew was polite and well mannered. The inflight service and food was excellent. No wonder qatar airways seats are not available wheras air india seats go begging. Air India is a national shame
