Flying to me was always a nightmare. I must confess that I had a phobia for flying ever since I went on a flight to goa when I was 7 & I have a valid reason for that as I went puking during the entire journey. I dont really recollect how it was at that time, but I decided after that day, never again will I travel by plane. Until one fine day this nightmare turned into reality.
I recently went to bangalore to meet my bhaiya & bhabhi & to my horror I discovered that my brother had booked my flight from bangalore to Bombay well in advance through some website(makemytrip I suppose). My world came crashing down & soon I found myself at the bangalore airport. I handed the printout to the guy at the indian airlines counter & was shown my way for the security check in. Since I was travelling alone for the first time & was new to the whole procedure I was guided well by the indian airlines authority. After collecting the tags & parting with my luggage & finishing all my formalities, i patiently waited for them to announce the flight. My flight was at 11.00am & bang it was right on time. We were taken in a bus to the awfully dreaded air plane. I was pretty nervous & anxious & was chanting god's name in my mind all the time. I got a comfortable window seat & I dared look out from the window. The air hostess were all saree clad & they gave us all the necessary instructions. Soon it was time to take off & as the plane gathered momentum on the runway, I closed my eyes tightly & began saying my prayers in my mind. Thankfully nothing happened to me & withing minutes I was up in the air, although I got a funny feeling in my stomach for a minute or two. So far so good I thought.
Coming to the technical aspects:
Punctuality:** The flight was very much in time & as it was predicted we reached Bombay in exactly one & half hour.
Seating arrangement**: The seating arrangement was good enough I enjoyed looking at the clouds & buildings which appeared like ants from top.
Service & hospitality:** The air hostess were neatly dressed in blue sarees & were kind enough to make me feel at home. Also they were very polite & soft spoken.
Food:** Food was pretty good. As we were travelling from 11.00 am to 12.30pmĀ we were given a decent vegetarian lunch. My lunch consisted of yoghurt, a punjabi sabzi, dal fry, rice, aachar, a bread puff with amul butter & jam, some salad & a frooty. Later we were even served tea & coffee as per our convenience.
Landing:** The landing was very smooth & thankfully I came back in one piece.
The moment we landed I started getitng calls from my anxious parents & my brother & they were happy that I had a comfortable journey back home.I gathered my luggage from the airport(everything was in its place) & headed back home with a sigh of relief.
So in a nutshell, Indian airlines is quite reasonable & as I have never flown with any other flight I cant actually compare it with any other airline.*
