Bollywood rarely attempts espionage or high octane thrillers. Even when they are attempted they often turn out to be the case of body beautiful minus with content taking a complete backseat .Fortunately, Agent Vinod scores in this department with a very exciting plot at its core even though the execution could have been a lot better .Also the film is really slow at times which takes away the sheen from it.I found myself looking at my watch a number of times and that is certainly a bad news for a thriller ./

There are some films where you feel bad if the outcome is not in proportion to what has been spent in the film and Agent Vinod is definitely those .The hard work that has been put into its making is clearly visible but all that glitters is not gold!

The film narrates the story of Vinod(Saif Ali khan) who is a Raw agent .His authority receives an information a nuclear bomb has been designed in a foreign land aiming at a mass destruction .Vinod ravels a journey throughout the globe to find the truth ….

The first thing that catches your attention in the film is the scale at which it has been made .This is definitely a film of epic proportions in terms of grandeur and style.A film that looks no less than a Hollywood film .The action scenes especially are simply breath taking and jaw dropping! Also as mentioned earlier there is a very interesting story running throughout its veins .

But the film suffers from a number of problems .Even though the story is very interesting the execution is rather cumbersome and confusing .The film has so many characters that make quick entry/exit that it becomes difficult to get hang of things .You actually wonder why characters behave the way they do for the director has choosen a non-linear style to narrate the plot .

Also the director gives the word ‘implausible ‘ a whole new meaning with one absurdities after another .The one that definitely takes the cake is one where Kareena decodes the password of a nuclear bomb from an emergency ward.I actually ran my eyes in disbelief how something ridiculous like that was presented on screen .

The film also suffers from a poor character development .Barring Saif, all other characters are a mere caricature and do not really have a distinct identity . Saif somehow seems to reach everywhere without any difficulty and get his things done without too much of a problem .Too much of cinematic liberty here!

Also one expected some cerebral twists from the director of Sriram Raghvan’s caliber{Jhony Gaddar and Ek Haseena Thi}.The twists and turns that arise in the film are rather predictable and you see them coming from a long distance .

The impact further gets diluted for the film gives you a strong sense of déjà vu. The entire track of bomb diffusion reminded me of another Saif-Kareena starrer Kurbaan. The identity of the main culprit also does not come as a surprise mainly because something similar was seen in Kahaani’s two weeks back .

The film ‘s biggest plus point is Saif Ali Khan .He looks every inch the character he is playing and looks very cool and suave .He carries the film on his shoulder and his performance alone is worth the price of admission .Another winning act from this tremendous actor .Somehow Kareena is not upto the mark this time .Both looks wise and performance wise .She looks really gorgeous at times and really bland at others .

Overall, Agent Vinod is a slick flick which could have been better. Even though the film is full of flaws, it is still much better than what is seen in routine Bollywood these days .The film deserves a watch mainly because it takes Bollywood to another level in terms of technique and style!
