Harassment of Elderly couple by Agarwal Group

We are senior citizens, and I am writing to describe the financial abuse of us by Agarwal Packers and Movers( APML) employee Mr. Shyam Das( Marketing Executive at Distance Survey Department, AMG, Pitampura, New Delhi) and, on the top of that, the damage to my belongings caused by gross negligence on the part of APML packers.To begin with, I wanted to move house from Maharashtra to Delhi through APML. Obviously, I wanted to hire the best packers and movers to move my personal belongings and furniture. I got in touch with Mr. Shyam Das, APML Delhi rep, last month. After a lot of deliberations, he quoted the price for moving all items as Rs. 50, 000. In addition, he promised to deliver the shifted goods to Delhi on the 13th of March. As per the agreement, I transferred APML the total freight amount on time.


Everything after that was handled unprofessionally. First, the loaders were not aware that their truck was smaller for the number of goods. They wasted time to bring the bigger one. Second, the delivery was completed on the 17th of March instead of the earlier promised date of the 13th of March. In this duration, APML Delhi marketing executive-Mr. Shyam Das rang me four to five times demanding extra Rs.10, 000 sternly saying that the belongings were more than he had expected. He also yelled at my wife on the phone stating that if the demanded money was not paid he would not unload any belongings. If this threatening tone was not enough, he argued to drag me and my wife to court and frame us so that we get punished for nonpayment.


This can be proved by the fact that the driver of the transport truck after reaching the destination, with open connivance of Mr. Shyam Das, refrained from entering the premises on the 17th of March until he was handed Rs. 10, 000 in cash. I was helpless to do anything else and had to reluctantly pay the amount of money to get my personal belongings.If this social abuse was not enough, the most significant of my belongings was completely broken by your movers during the transit( Check the attached photo). These crockeries cost me a fortune, and I had purchased it on a special occasion. The company did not even apologize for this damage let alone compensate me for it. This despicable behavior is exacerbated by the fact that Mr. Shyam Das denied owning up to this damage. I am shocked to my core after being mistreated so rudely while my items have been made completely unusable.


My simple questions are: Do Agarwal Packers and Movers train their personnel to yell at senior citizens for asking a ransom? Why was not I told about the extra money when the quote was being made? Why was not I told about it when the belongings were loaded by the packers? What wrong have we done to deserve such a detestable treatment? If Agarwal Packers and Movers have my personal belongings, is it Agarwal Packers and Movers'  policy to ask for a ransom through misbehaving individuals like Mr. Shyam Das.Does not APML regard elder abuse as social abuse? It undoubtedly violated my basic right to feel safe. I was having sleepless nights worrying incessantly what Mr. Shyam Das would do to my hard earned belongings. I tolerated the financial abuse and ended up paying the forcefully demanded 10000 Rs. Is this how Agarwal group is globally getting recognized? If this is how Agarwal Packers have earned their reputation, I am totally dissatisfied with their method of working. I certainly want to ask the internet forum if this part of treatment meted out to me was justifiable given the tenuous situation I had been.


I expect at the least Agarwal Packers and Movers treat me fairly by refunding the amount of money that I had been coerced to pay including the charges for the damage. However, the customer support staff and the company managers have not responded to any of my emails for a long time. How nonchalant can the Director and his management be? I suggest not using Agarwal Packers, otherwise, you are going to be extorted by uneducated people like Mr. Shyam Das while your goods are mishandled by APML.
