I looked forward to this movie for a long time. The promos made it seem like a cute, fun flick, so I excitedly got a group of friends together to go see it. When I saw it, I was horrified. The acting was horrible - characters flat- and I found it difficult to become engaged with the characters. The plot seemed stale and did nothing to draw me in. There was no suspense. There was absolutely zero chemistry between the leads. AKK fails even to reach the average mark!
The story revolves around the U.K.-based Anu (Priyanka Chopra) who’s shifted base to Mumbai but hasn’t gotten over her heartbreak with her ex-boyfriend Danny (Dino Morea).
When her sister Sirani (Amisha Patel) is about to get married to Kunal (Sunil Shetty) in London, Anu finds a perfect opportunity to win back her lost love. She hires Aman (Akshaye Khanna), who works in her office, to accompany her to the wedding, posing as her boyfriend, and thereby make Danny jealous. But once in London, things change.
Danny is least interested in her and to add to Anu’s woes, he makes a confession that shatters her.
If this all sounds vague and lacking in description, it's because that's exactly what the movie is. It has an corny premise that it does absolutely nothing with it.The worst thing is I was expecting a few jokes in the movie after seeing the promos.
I only went to see the movie because I thought this was a light-hearted romantic comedy. I did get a few jokes, but they were so bad that not a single soul in the theater squeezed out a laugh.
Every line/minute of the movie amazes you with its predictability and stupidity. Dialogs are blunt, dull and straight out of 70s style Bollywood. The whole story is directed so bad that you wish you had the power to ban the director Dharmesh Darshan from making any more movies.
If the first half has some interesting moment ,Writer completely loses grip in the second half. The three day love development Akshay and Priyanka is directed in a way that you do not really see it. There is no sparks flying, no connection between two main characters and the emotions and the process of falling in love is not very convincing.More than anything else, one fails to understand why Priyanka really want to win back the man who humiliated her ?
The film is embellished with some good songs [himesh], but how one wishes they were promoted aggressively. 'I love u' and 'MAHIYA' stand out. Cinematography is alright.
Dino looks suave and carries off his part with confidence although his characterisation is underdeveloped.
Priyanka goes over the top completely. In a supporting role, Amisha was a standout as Priyanka's sister. Whenever she came on screen, she served as a spark plug and catalyst for the film's energy. Perhaps if Amisha had been cast in the role of Anu, the film might have had more dynamism.
But It is Akshay Khanna who steals the show with an amazing performance every time he appears on screen. He lends dignity to the character and walks away with honours. Another flawless performance this!Sunil Shetty is expressionless.Lili Dubey carries one expression throughout, whether happy or sad. Anupam Kher doesn't impress.
On the whole, Aap ki Khatir is a weak film in all respects. Lack of hot star cast and dull initial response will prove unfavourable for the film.
