The Aaj Tak news channel shows everything but news. it has the most unprofessional crew I have ever seen with dishevelled news readers and most bizarre sense of journalism. It has still managed to get a large audience because of its masala stuff and God knows how has been able to bag a lot of prizes. What else can a channel ask for.
I would like to share a couple of events that were covered by the ''omnipresent'' Aaj Tak channel. One of them was when Shramjeevi Express got derailed and a lot of passengers were injured and many died. The man in the Aaj Tak studio asked his correspondent at the accident site ''aap bata sakte hain mahaul kaisa hai wahan ka'' as if the ''mahaul'' there could vary from festive to a tense one. Then the correspondent goes to one of the passengers who was seriously injured and starts putting questions like ''jab train giri to aapke man me kya kya khayal aa rahe the''. The poor passenger was barely able to speak but could not avoid the wrath of Aaj Tak channel with questions from the news room also started to pour in. I was utterly disgusted.
In another programme ''Seedhi Baat'' where the India Today editor Prabhu Chawla tries his hardest best (if u allow me to use that adjective) to imitate Tim Sebastian of Hard Talk aired on BBC and ends up asking stupid and irrelevant questions. There are innumerable no. of incidents still left which I am sure if shown as a series on the goof ups of aaj tak will be a run away success.
But as long as they are getting audiences and prizes they need not worry. Lady Luck is doing a good job for them.
