I first saw this movie at PVR delhi, and then grabbed the VCD as soon as it was out. A beautiful mind, the story needn't be repeated, charachters neednt be re-introduced, but the emotions felt must be explained. The inerest in the movie was sparked by John Nash, nobel prize winner and the underlying theme of schizophrenia.
When I first saw the movie I was expecting the usual hollywood stuff, including special effects and and slow motion action, but was stupefied by the real stuff. The portrayal of the charachter was real beyond my expectations, and the twist at the middle of the movie just blows the hell out of you. I wonder why Russell didnt get an oscar for this movie, as he acted far better than in gladiator.
What starts out as a brilliant story of success of a mathematician suddenly turns awry and leads the protagonist into depths of himself, which he and his family fear will never be able to come out of. But maybe that is what this movie is about, to not lose trust in your loved ones, in yourself, whatever, however bad the situation maybe. The agony faced by john nash is certainly felt by the viewer, at many a times, when he is not able to have sex with his wife because he is on medication, the public mockery made out of him, or the time when he accidentally killed his own son!
The haunting soundtrack is just complimentary to the theme of the movie, that too when it has only one song, ''all love can be'' by charlotte church which I feel is the best romantic song I have ever heard. The movie really moves you to your bone, and makes you see the pain felt by schizophrenics, something which I see in my own family.
Even after 2 years of buying it, I can't get enough of this movie, watching it over and over again. And watching this movie alone is you can do best to give justice to the plot.
