I purchased VX922, the 19 inch LCD monitor from ViewSonic and am happy with it. It has a 2ms response time which is better than Samsung and looks quite sleek. I have a 19 inch SyncMaster 920N at work and I would say the display quality is close to the Samsung one. I would recommend ViewSonic LCDs over the top brand Samsung for the following reasons:
Limited Range of products: Only 19 inch widescreen was available and not 19 inch regular. The widescreen display has lesser display area and therefore costs less.
Consumer is taken for Granted by Samsung Dealers: Reasons I say this is
a) The older range of products is sold in India. The latest 940 series was not available but only the earlier 920 series.
b) Arbitary pricing: The price for 19 inch widescreen was 10, 300 and a week later was 11, 500. I do not expect prices to vary more than a stock market.
- More expensive: An older model of 19 inch widescreen from Samsung costed Rs. 11, 500 whereas the latest 19 inch regular ViewSonic monitor costed Rs. 11 K. The 19 in widescreen from ViewSonic was only 9 k.
