Before you go ga-ga-go-go. The car has
the same TDi diesel engine( Turbocharged diesel engine
with Intercooler delivering 70 PS @ 4500 rpm, 135 Nm @ 2500 rpm of power) and Petrol engine(MPFI
Petrol engine with 32 bit microprocessor delivering 65 PS @ 5200 rpm, 105 Nm @
2600 rpm), as its bigger sibling the normal Indigo.
Length of the car was shortened to 3988mm
(from 4150mm), by reducing the Boot Space from 450ltrs to 380ltrs!
The CS model comes in 2 petrol(GLE 3.79 lakhs / GLS 3.99 lakhs) **/ 2
diesel options(LE 4.19l akhs / LS 4.49 lakhs) only. The **petrol model
features beige dashboard interiors while the diesel model has got
black dashboard instead.
To differentiate the two, TATA motors has
given it Cosmetic Touches to the Exteriors such as, New* Head Lamps / Tail Lamps
/ Front & Rear Bumpers / Fog Lamps** and a new front grille.
The interior space is exactly the same. There is no difference in the interior dimensions.I will repeat one more time, the only thing different in this car(apart from cosmetic touches to the exterior), from the normal Indigo is the boot length shortening!
The top end diesel / petrol model comes with only **Power-Steering
and HVAC as standard**.
Rest of the things like seating comfort, ride quality, handling ability is the
same as the normal Indigo, although
the reduction in weight(about 25 kgs) should lead to marginal
fuel efficiency of
2-3% more that the normal Indigo. Infact if you add the Alloy Wheels to
the CS, you can add another 2-3% to your fuel efficiency.
Any doubts on the long term handling / reliability of the Indigo brand itself, can be cleared by **reading my 1
year long term test of the Indigo on this site itself. Expect Mileage of around 12.5-13.5kmp/ltr in the Citywith A/C on and about 14-16 kmp/ltr on the Highway.
I liked the smoother power steering the new Indigo / Indigo CS have, alongwith the better gear-shift system in place.
The drive is as always smooth, even over uneven roads and is sheer pleasure on the highways. It's great for long distance travel too, and the view from
Driver Seatis commanding. The engine *responds
better and the power-steering and gear shift have been considerably
improved over the older Indigo's.
So basically what the Indigo CS offers to the buyers is a Sedan Car, at a Hatchback price. Makes great sense to me.Basically you get the "i own a bigger car" tag!
Overall, excellent value for
money! Buy!
