I saw another good Malayalam movie ?SWAPNAKOODU? which means ?DREAM-NEST?. This movie was released last year but to Gulf it came recently in video cassette. I love Malayalam movies and this movie is different since it is hindi filmi type and music is really good especially ?Iiestamalada ? song.
SWAPNAKOODU is inspired by Farhan Akhtar's DIL CHAHTA HAI. It is all about love, friendship and sacrifice. This film has Jayasurya, Kunchako Boban and Prithivaj as the leading heroes and Meera Jasmine and Bhavana as the leading ladies. Kamal is a director who specialises in picture-perfect, colourful designer films in Malayalam to suit the taste of the young audience of Kerala brought up on a diet of Bollywood films. It has definitely crossed the dimensional paths of malayalam cinema. It has songs picturized in a Bollywood style. The movie offers entertainment, all comedy, romance, and drama.
Story begins?.
Kunjunju (Prithviraj), Deepak Narayanan (Kunchacko Boban) and Ashta Moorthy (Jayasurya) reach Pondicherry to do their Hotel Management course. Each of these 3 guys is different in the way they look at life but there was something, which bonds them well. Kunjunju is a flirt who makes a pass at every girl he meets; Deepu is a calm and cool guy who is never able to express his true feelings and Ashtmoorthy is a funny person who doesn't take anything serious. These three friends due to their mischievous behavior had to shift their accommodation many times.
Finally, their friend Abbas (Vijesh) finds them a suitable accommodation. They had to share a house where a mother (Kalaranjini) and her two daughters are staying. One can expect what happens there where two teenage girls and three guys live together? All the three guys try to win the heart of Kamala (Meera Jasmine) who is a florist. Deepu buys flowers from her almost everyday and is madly in love with her, but does not express it. Ashtamoorthy makes a fool of him and ends up with as her rakhi brother.
Meanwhile Kunjunju who starts on the wrong foot with her finds himself bowled over by her charms. Initially Kamala thinks Kunjunju is a flirt but slowly gets attracted to him. Rest of the story is as usual - Kunjunju and Deepu have a fall out and Ashtamoorthy brings them back...
Pritviraj as Kunjukunju tries to let his hair down and even tries to copy his father Sukumaran?s style of dialogue delivery. Kunchakko Boban has a very insipid role while it is Jayasurya who is the surprise packet. He has proved his natural flair for comedy and outbeats the other two in most of the scenes.
Meera Jasmine as Kamala has given a stunning performance, while Bhavana has nothing much to do. The narrative is interspersed with sumptuous song ?n? dance numbers as Kamal tries to pass off Vienna as part of Pondicherry. Music is good and similar to bollywood.
