If you can't afford to go to goa for lack of funds or time, I will say come to suruchi beach .
Everyone has their own ways and means of countering stress . Many like to watch movies, some like to dine with wine . To me a visit to a place like suruchi baug aka suruchi beach manages just that .
This place is 20 minutes drive from Vasai west station . Being born at dehra doon taught me to be very close to nature, I always find solace with nature . This beach is at vasai gaon, which is a very clean and green place especially during monsoons. My brother says that it reminds him of kerala, though he says kerala is greener much greener .
The beach and the nearby area will also remind one of Goa . This beach gets its name from the Tall suru trees all over the beach . This place is so cool and so heavenly during monsoons . What makes this different from other nearby mumbai beaches is the fact that its really a very clean place and yet not so commercialized like lets say a juhu beach, which means that its still more peaceful and serene .
Oddly on a sunday its so jam packed as then it becomes the no 1 picnic place for everyone . Somehow I come here to escape the crowds and hence a day which isn't sunday makes me feel better . I usually visit here with a friend of mine and we take long walks along the beach .
Sometimes we just sit ashore and listen to the waves close our eyes and meditate . many a times at the risk of catching attention we do some pranayama . The cool breeze cools me from outside while the anulom vilom cools me from inside . Guys I have said this many times and will say it again, every place his its own vibration. I will go to the extend of saying those in need to heal, especially emotionally should come often to such places . Focussing on the sounds of the waves or just watching them in itself is a kind of meditation . Walking barefoot on the sand is reflexology and very soothing to the mind .
But recently this place is being more and more commercialized, it's also getting more and more crowded . The peace component is being sacrificed . People eat and litter the place like they never did before .
Sometimes it even difficult to walk along the beach on sundays as its being turned into cricket strips and football grounds .which is only fair as mumbai lacks big grounds .
I see many young lads practising gymnastics here . Of course you will get the usual beach fun of horse riding, bhuttas, bhel puris, vada pavs and coconut water here.
Despite all this it remains one of the best beaches around mumbai . Do also visit nearby vasai fort and vasai port which is just 10 minutes from this place
Vasai fort is a place where many movies do get shot, we also have a couple of temples there .
