I had just finished my entrance exams and me and a bunch of my friends decided to cool off and we decided to go to ooty. For those who don't know Ooty is a hill station in the state of Tamil Nadu and is a absolutely beautiful and great place. Unlike the hotel we were staying in. The hotel we stayed in was Sapphire Garden View. The reason we went to this hotel was beacuse this hotel was owned by a group who run a pretty good chain of hotel and restaurants on Mysore. But boy! Were we in for a surprise! Let me tell you about the hotel . I will write about each point of the hotel and rate it on a scale of 5. So here I go.
1) The Rooms- The room we had taken was the 'expensive' one at 1000 Rs/- a day.( Expensive to us atleast!) . The room looked quite okay when we entered, then we saw that the paint used was not that good. The bathroom door did not even lock! We did not have 24 hours hot water supply in the bathroom . Mind you , we were in ooty. The bed was okay and the furniture decent. The telephone sucked to the core! it rarely worked. There wasn't even any soap in our bathroom! Rating- 2/5
2) The Lobby - Was that a lobby? I am sorry it did not feel like one. The sitting sofas were not the kind that should be in a hotel. Then the paper kept on the table was the day before's newspaper. No sign of a magazine and the lobby played host to a lot of mosquitoes. Rating- 1.5/5
3)The Food- The only saving grace of the hotel. The food was good. I am a vegtariam and I enjoyed the veg food and I found the coffee really good. Though a bit on the expensie side. The food was excellent. But the crockery served with it was pathetic, atleast the one we were served in the room. Rating- 4/5
4) Room Service- In a single word. It SUCKED. The hot-water I ordered when I wanted to have a bath was sent after 45 mins. Then the dinner was delivered after 50 mins and the morning coffee after 30 mins and the snacks too after 30 mins. He took 15 mins to bring water for us to drink. Now is that called 'good' customer service ? Rating- 1/5
5) The Location- When we heard the name garden view, We were like very glad that we would have a garden view and then we went to the room window and peeped ot, guess what we saw. A miniature drainage canal. Some garden view, this. Otherwise, the location was quite okay. The market, Bus stand and the lake are pretty near. Rating- 2.5/5
6) Transportation- They had this service of a bus leaving to mysore from the hotel itself. We were like, cool. Then we booked a bus ticket to mysore at 100 Rs/- a head. So then the bus was supposed to come at 6:30 came at 8:30 and we reached mysore at 12:30 in the night. Mysore is not a place like mumbai. 12:30 is very late here. The bus too sucked. We hardly had place to sit. The seats were too small and the bus made so much sound. Rating- 0/5
So, please do not stay at this hotel if you are going to Ooty. Avoid it all costs!!!!
