Having written reviews on books, movies & some other of my favourite things, I thought its time now to write on something else and I know the topic I have chosen could bring in varied responses because the person itself is quite controversial.
My introduction with Salman Khan was through the movie ‘Biwi Ho to Aisi’ at that time I was like this Bro In Law seems to be good but who is it…and then came MPK…..I was a school kid and the mushy love story affected me a lot and the main reason for the same was Salman Khan. Man, he was damn good as Prem (BTW I think he should patent the name *Prem, *its suits him the best)……especially in the second half of the movie. I still very clearly remember the Blue Jeans & the maroon shirt….and even now that’s my favourite combination…….
So guys that was the beginning of my affair with Salman Khan…that was the day and till now so many heroes have come and gone liked few of them in phases and then they faded. But Salman Khan has been a constant factor in my life.
During my hostel life his 12 posters used to dorn my room’s wall. People were irritated but not me….
Since it’s a review some facts about Salman…
He started his career in 1988 with Biwi Ho to Aisi and has starred in an odd 60 plus films till date. His first claim to success was Maine Pyar Kiya which was a stupendous success and he claimed the hearts of many a youngsters by this movie. After giving a chain of hits he was in the limelight for not co operating with the media. In between he gave movies like Baaghi, Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa, Kurbaan, Saajan, Love etc. With movies like Suryavanshi, Ek Ladka Ek Ladki started the worst phase of his career. He gave duds after duds.
And then came Hum Aapke Hain Koun...! Which not only changed his career it also changed the face of Indian cinema. People thronged to theaters for this movie. I know everyone will say it was because of Mads….but any true SK fan will say he was mind blowing in the movie….
And since HAHK SK has been in a professionally golden period with movies like Karan Arjun (one of my SK Fav), Khamoshi, Jeet, Judwaa (hilarious), Deewana Mastana (watched this movie for its ending), Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Bandhan (how did this movie succeed is a suspense for all), Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (SK was the surprise packets and what a surprise), Hum Saath-Saath Hain (anybody who hated SK should see this movie to fall in love with him), Biwi No.1, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc etc.
Salman Khan has always had a solid fan following behind him. There are people (like me) who go and watch SK movie because he is in there. No body can explain hits like Tere Naam, Bandhan, Judwaa, Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam, Garv etc. all of these were horrible movies but still worked because of Salman Khan.
In 19 year career he has won 2 film fare awards and has recently been honoured with “Rajiv Gandhi Award" for outstanding achievement in entertainment
^^ My personal favourite have been Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Kaun, Andaaz Apna Apna, Karan Arjun, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Phir Milenge, Jaaneman, No Entry, Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega etc. (the list is never ending)
^^ As far as acting is concerned I agree that sometimes he just sleep walks through the role. He gives an impression that he is just doing the movie for the heck of it. But if he is sincere no body can beat him. Jaaneman, Phir Milenge, No Entry and many more movies are glowing examples of same.
^^ If he wants he can dance like a dream….See Partner for it.
^^ He has a great sense of humor…catch his interviews this guy has the guts of laughing at himself and trust me it needs to guts to do it.
^^ Have heard he has done loads of philanthropic work, don’t know how true that is but if he has done even a percentage of what is being said than that’s good enough.
^^ His affairs have also made great news but truly speaking I like him on screen and who he is dating currently is of no relevance to me.
^^ People hate him when he takes off his shirt…Me too…he is better off with his clothes on.
* Now comes the touchiest topic….his brushes with the law. He has been into two major legal troubles. The Chinkara case & the rash & negligent driving (in this case one person was killed). Both the cases are under trial. As far this area is concerned I am very clear. Please punish him if he is guilty. And I am sure he is guilty. No body should move Scot free if he/ she have gone against the law. I might not be happy if he is imprisoned (I’ll miss him on screen obviously) but I’ll also not go in for signature campaign to set him free. Let him pay for their misdeeds.
People (Mainly Guys) say ‘how can anyone like Salman Khan??? He is so stupid, takes off his shirt, has done so many bad things’ and they go on and on and on. My answer to them is that even I can not understand why guys like Aishwaraya Rai, Bipasha Basu & the likes of Mallika Sherawat but each to its own.
All said and done I still love Salman Khan….why? May be because of his sense of humor, his looks (the main criteria), His style….and many more reasons which I can explain and many more which even I don’t know. People love to hate him and I simply love loving him. For me when he is on the screen all other actors cease to exist.
PS: This review is my platform to express my likings for Salman Khan no offense to anybody….everyone is welcome to comment…but nothing changes my opinion….(everyone is allowed one indulgence in life…he is mine)
