Sadak Music Review (1991). Review on Sadak Songs

Well, this is the review of a pretty well-known music album... SADAK released in October, 1991. The album comprises of 9 songs, composed by Nadeen-Shravan and penned by lyricst, Sameer. Sadak was a low budget hit film. It was a stylish thriller and it`s music was perhaps it`s main factor in both it`s popularity and promos at the time of release.

The album starts with, “Hum Tere Bin Kahe Rehe Nahin Paate” a pretty tricky song, which infuses jhankar beats with the harmonium, and beautiful singing by Manhar Udhas and Anuradha Paudwal.

Next is “Jab Jab Pyar”, a romance song. The song is sung by Anuradha Paudwal and Kumar Sanu. Both singers sing very well apart from a bit of nasal singing by Kumar Sanu. Infact, that is why I hate that song. It also tends to get a little wordy but it manages to just stay very much in rythm of the music of the song.

Kumar Sanu and Anuradha Paudwal continue with ''Tumhe Apana Bana...'' A hit song with great music at intervals. In my Cd, there are a total of 3 versions of this hit-song. One is only a male version, the other a female and so the duet. When the promos came out, the duet (being most original) was being promoted a lot. However, I find the one by Sanu the best even if all the 3 versions are good. The Saxophone and guitar is made into perfect use.

Afterwards is a meaningful soundtrack titled, “Kya Sochta Ae Dil”. Anuradha Paudwal sings the song with so much effervescence that one can’t help but ask, what is the heart thinking about?

Anuradha continues with, ''Zamane Ke Dekhe'', Abhjieet contributes and sad to say that this is his only contribution in this near-perfect album. By this time, what I think I have listened to this CD, the music is really at, it`s peak. From here on, all the songs are good but there is a slight downfall... from perfect to good music...

Sameer really uses some beautiful lyrics for this song. One of the bests in Sadak...

Getting into bit faster situations, “Mohabbat Ki Hai Tumhare Liye” another romantic number by Sanu and Paudwal The melody of the song is really good and heart felt also.

Sadak is not a perfect album because two songs are quite different from the ones I`ve mentionned above...They are, “Rehne Ko Ghar Nahin” and “Tak Dhin Tak”, situational numbers with a lot of experimentation, considering that they were recorded more than twelve years ago. The songs sung by Sanu, Debashish Dasgupta, Junaid Akhtar and Babla Mehta, are enjoyable for on screen purposes and don’t find much life on the stereo system. -Maybe because there was a lack of technology in the music to make it become more interesting... As for 'Tak Dhin Tak', it resembles a bit too much songs of the seventees and eighties, (meaning that at the time of release in the early ninety`s, people would say that this song`s music is the most unconventional tune of this album) -AND I think it really is...

Sadak is really a nice album. I would recommend anyone to buy it... even if it`s not perfect to my eyes but it`s worth your money...
