Here I go writing about KBC 3 again. My last review on KBC 3 was under KBC2 and it was more speculation than actual facts or insights. Some people copied my content into their review. Anyways...When I sat watching KBC3 yesterday three things went through my mind..Will SRK's show be more popular than AB's?Who is making how much money?Who are the sponsors? Will SRK's show be more poplular than A'Bs?It will be as good if not surpass AB's show because of the simple reason that people will watch what is SRK doing different. And for SRK is is easy to things which are NOT AB like.
The mathematical logic is 'Anything which is not AB's style is SRK style"And we are there to debate, the media will carry articles and what else do we need for popularity? As the show started, SRK with his charm started off by the usual greetings. But, he is conscious not to bring in anything that could remotely be associated with AB's show. From "Lock Karenge" to "Freeze Karenge"; "Computer Ji" to "Compaq Da", holding the cheque at the bottom rather than top, aap jo suit pehnne ko bolenge woh suit pehnunga, game chhodna nahin hai SRK ko gale lagana hai, the style of pre and post commercial break is also different.
But it looks REHEARSED, I am sure , as episodes pass by it wil look natural. May be we start thinking "this how the show SHOULD be hosted!!!"SRK tries to make the show more humorous and pleasing rather than tense. One thing he is missing out is of asking the wining contestants what they would be doing with the prize money. I think thats an entertaining part of the whole show of building up the interest.May be SRK thinks it is too personal to ask or he knows people will lie.Who is making how much money?
From what I recall from an analysis by NDTV, AB charged 40 L per episode while SRK is charging 70L akhs. Considering the inflation, this looks reasonable, I guess. Financial experts please throw some light on this.According to NDTV analysis, 70% of the ad revenue will go to SRK, and Star Plus will have to rejoice with whatever is left. For the records, while AB hosted the show a 10 sec.slot (during Prime Time) was Rs. 2.25L, but media experts are of the opinion it would be difficult to quote this rate for SRK show. May be they think this show will not be as popular as AB's or may be brands see viewers else where.Who are the sponsors? As it would be anyone's guess, all brands endorsed by SRK which target the Prime time audience will be aired during the show.
It could be nonselling brands too :-). For the facts, audience got overdoses of Videocon, Hyundai Santro, and AIRTEL. What was interesting was the brands that were endorsed by AB also aired. For example, ICICI Bank, "safe banking " campaign and the Cadbury's chocolate were interesting to watch. What is different?Union Bank is the official bank this time and is screaming loud and clear "SEE ME", "SEE ME" along with Compaq. Lenovo with AB was subtle. There is a 4th lifeline this time.KPMG is the process validators for this show from the earlier E&Y.
Siddharth Basu bets on 'Stars" rather than "Cash Cows"Reid and Taylor has been replaced by the lesser known "Masculine"By the way, when SRK says "Aap jo suit pehnne ko bolenge, main wahi suit pehnunga" is an indication that he needs someone to sponsor his suits. But I dont think, Mayur suitings (clothing range endorsed by SRK) will be interested in it. Is somebody else listeneing???Let's wait and watch!!P.S.: Entry only for BSNL/MTNL/AIRTEL subscribers is a great UNWELCOME for other subscribers....
