In December 2010 my dad agreed to buy me a bike (not more power than 150cc he said). So I started analyzing various bikes, I never considered the Pulsars and apaches. 3 bikes I had zeroed down to were Hunk, Dazzler and FZ.
I took the test ride of FZ and Dazzler, liked the FZ but mileage was a concern. I wanted to test ride the new Hunk, but couldn't find it most showrooms in Bangalore, I called to the regional herohonda office, they were very cooperative and told me one one showroom in karnataka (Praskash motors, Bangalore) has the new HUNK on display as the Hunk would be released in karnataka on Jan 15th and after that every showroom will have it. I was in a dilemma whether to go for HUNK or Dazzler. So this is the analysis I did,
In terms of features, reliability and quality, both HUNK and Dazzler are the same as Herohonda and Honda are know for producing quality bikes.
Well the differentiating factors are
1) Power: HUNK-14.4 Ps
Dazzler-13.8 Ps
2)Looks: HUNK- Muscular, sporty, trend setter (for the tank shrouds on various bike)
Dazzler- Copy of the old Hunk in some parts, but it is very thin and looks like a grown up 100cc CB Twister.
3)tyres: Hunk- 18" tubeless
Dazzler- 17"tubeless ( looks very tiny)
4)lights: Hunk- head lamp + small parking bulb in head lamp and LED tail lamp
Dazzler- only Head lamp and normal halogen tail lamp.
5)Console:Hunk- chrome edged console looks awesome with the red orange backlight.
Dazzler- looks like the Passion Pro console with a blue backlight.
6)seating:Hunk- Hunk is know for the best blend of comfort and sporty posture and best ergonomics
on any Indian bike.
Dazzler- seating is just like the pulsar, nothing great.
So my verdict is HUNK and Dazzler are same in features, but HUNK in BETTER than Dazzler in LOOKS and PERFOMANCE. And also Hunk is a bit heavier, so stability at speeds is better than the Dazzler.
So finally I booked my new Hunk, ebony grey colour at Prakash Motors on Jan 5th, finally on jan 16th I got a call from the dealer saying the Ebony grey bike has arrived, immediately paid full cash (77000 for double disc model) and after registration I got the bike on Jan 19th.
From then to date I have comlpleted 3200km and finished 2 free services. Till my 2nd service (2500km) the dealer told me not to cross 60kmph, and I did so and I am getting 53-55kmpl mileage now, thats awesome for a 150cc bike.
Let me tell you about the bike,
1)Awesome looks, big bike and I feel like the king of the road when I ride the HUNK. The engine is very smooth even at 8000rpm no vibrations and the roar of the engine when we rev it is awesome and makes my presence felt.
2)seating is the most comfortable, I travel 60km daily and till date I have never got tired of riding and not even a single bit of pain. Once I had bike trip from bangalore to nandi hills (125km ride) very comfortable and I was as fresh as a daisy after the round trip, where as my friends on the pulsars and Fz were struggling to ride for a long time, and got body pains the very next day.
3)Initially the gear shift was hard and had few false neutrals when going from 1st gear to 2nd gear, but after 2 services I feel it has got smooth and no more false neutrals now :)
4)When ever I ride my bike people keep staring at my bike and I often get questions like "how many lakhs is this bike?", "what is the mileage?" and many more.
5)As you all already know that the features on this bike are awesome, I really liked the rear disc brakes, they set this bike a class apart from the 150cc bikes. The rear disc really works like a charm.
6)Hunk being from herohonda, you need not worry about maintenance and reliability . Even on cold mornings the bike starts with the slightest click of the power button.
So I definitely would recommend this bike to anybody who wants the best 150cc, but this bike being big, it ll be a bit uneasy to handle if you are short (by short I mean 5'4" and less). But once you get this bike be ready to grab a lot attention on the road and you ll surely feel proud about the new HUNK.
This is my first bike and I am happy that I choose the new Hero Honda Hunk.
