We all know why Haridwar is famous for? Just like Varanasi or Gaya, we can witness the Ganga Aarti on the ghats of river Ganges which starts at 5:30 P.M. sharp.
The aarti lasts for 20 minutes approx so plan accordingly before visiting. My stay at haridwar was near to the railway station. Hari ki pauri which is supposedly the main attraction was 2 kms from the hotel I stayed in.
One can board a eRicksha that charges Rs 10/person. There is also the famous Manasa Devi temple on way to Hari ki Pauri. Beware of the fake bhakts who will try to convince you & take you near the ghat and usher some mantra. They charge heavily & foolishly people pay them Rs. 1000, sometimes more or less.
There are a lot of small stalls outside where one can eat & shop. You must walk back to your hotel only if you intend to see the local market. Lot of good stuff can be bought at a cheap price if bargained properly. The place comes to a halt mostly after 8:30 P.M. So plan accordingly, have your dinner/supper & go back to hotel by 9:30 P.M.
