Dapoli, also known as "Mini Mahabaleshwar" of Konkan is situated at the height of 800 - 1000 ft above sea level in a mountain range which is separated from Sahyadri(Deccan).
Nestled in the ragged, beautiful West Maharashtra coastline, Dapoli boasts of some of the most beautiful, scenic and serene surroundings.
The land is perennially blessed with refreshing greenery. Enchanting calls of the cuckoos in Spring, mouth-watering spreads of Alphanso in Summer, slow-rising clouds of fog in Winter and waterfalls and dales in Monsoon … Dapoli is truly a land of all seasons.
Surrounded by hills and forests and having a long coastline, this is a home for a variety of migratory birds and animals. There are plenty of cashew nut, jack fruit, coconut and betel nut plantations.
Beautiful, virgin beaches, ancient temples, rock-cut caves, jungle trails, – Dapoli has it all. Top it with delicious Konkan cuisine and a refreshing cool climate throughout the year and you have the recipe of an ideal holiday destination.
The virgin beaches here live up to their promise. No crowds, no vendors pestering you with their wares – the only sound you can hear is of the waves. They are very clean, broad and shallow with soft sand on the shore and wide expanse and are well suited for walking, jogging or simply freaking out. You will probably be able to watch the white bellied sea eagle, white backed vultures and sea gulls. Olive Ridley sea turtles are also spotted here.
The other attraction which you can’t afford to miss is the dolphins. There are many local operators who arrange dolphin watching trips. Be sure to be on the early morning boat to fully enjoy this spectacle!
