AGODA AND OYO ARE GREAT CHEATERS
We six Sr citizens cum Sr Govt officials booked 3 AC rooms inclusive of breakfast in OYO @3624 Eden Residency, Main Police Bazar, Shillong for five days from Nov 06 to Nov 11, 2019 well in advance on Sept12, almost 2 months before through Agoda.com by paying full payment of Rs 45891/ in advance.
The hotel was chosen by us considering various factors like near to the main Police Bazar, having a good no of vegetarian restaurants for lunch, dinner etc and good place for shopping in the evening etc.
However Agoda first changed our hotel from Eden Residency to Hotel OYO 4276 B&B on Nov 04 and again to Deimai G House on Nov 06 giving overbooking as the reason, though we had also booked our hotel two months ago.
We were shocked to find that the Deimai G House was a standard low budget hotel situated at approx. 6 km from the city, with non AC rooms, serving no Indian Vegetarian food and no other restaurant was available nearby. Also rooms were not having the basic facilities like mirror, cupboard etc. The rooms were booked without breakfast. Thus this Deimai G House was not at all equivalent to our original booking .
We requested Agoda and OYO to keep our stay in our original booked Eden Residency. However no help was rendered to us.
It was night time , no help was forthcoming from Agoda / OYO and AGODA was threatening us to detect considerable amount already paid to them if we change to another hotel, we had to check in the Deimai G House. Agoda./ OYO even did not make any arrangement for providing break fast on complimentary basis to us, though our original booking included complimentary breakfast.
Further on Nov 10 night, we were informed by the Deimai G House owner that OYO had not released their balance payment of Rs 12420/=( total amount Rs 12920/=) till then , so we had to pay this amount to them before checkout.
The Deimai G House’s this demand put us further in great tension as we had already paid full payment of Rs 45891 to Agoda. With great efforts, we could make OYO to release the said payment to the G house.
When we requested Agoda to reimburse our breakfast charges incurred by us, they started behaving cunningly and did not release any money to us rather insisted repeatedly that we should get an official letter from Deimai G house, though OYO/Agoda themselves booked the rooms without breakfast.
It was a horrible experience for us. We advise all our friends in future not to book any hotel with Agoda/ OYO the great cheaters.
