“7G Rainbow Colony” – Yes, as the name itself suggests, this youthful story revolves around a Carefree Youth Kathir residing @ 7H Rainbow Colony and an ambitious Punjabi girl Anitha who is a new entrant to ‘7G’ Rainbow Colony !
7G – A LOVE STORY
Love Stories are nothing new to Tamil cinema as almost 95% of the films are based on different forms of “Love”. This is also a love story but with a difference !
Kathir reminds us of almost every typical carefree youth we come across here & there – but for lack of accentuation in his dialogues, Ravi Krishna has proved himself to be a good actor in this Film.
Being a typical insouciant youth always performing things against whatever advices he receives from elders and doing all the possible mischievous things with his friends, Kathir falls in love with Anitha, a Punjabi who is a new entrant to his Colony. But Anitha refuses to accept his proposal and is gradually irritated by his annoying behaviour of following her wherever she goes. She complains to the Police about his eve-teasing & continues to openly reveal her hatred towards Kathir. But Kathir continues to exhibit his love for her and pleads her to atleast consider him as her good friend. Anitha considers this & decides to make Kathir a responsible boy. With her tough efforts, Kathir gets a good job and becomes a very responsible man. Meanwhile, Anitha gradually falls in love with Kathir –
Here comes our usual masala touch of the Director ! Anitha’s parents come to know about this love affair and shifts their dwelling from Rainbow Colony & keep Anitha on house arrest at the new place. But Anitha manages to meet Kathir and the lovers run away … the rest of it is the “CLIMAX”, but strictly to be watched at the Big Screen !
7G – The DIRECTOR
With Sonia Agarwal on the lead role, obviously the Director as already guessed by most of you, is Selva Raghavan ! Anyway, I am not here to gossip ..!! In this movie, the Director is certainly worth a mention … Selva Raghavan’s Fast moving screenplay in almost every frame, his noticeable Directorial touch at many places and the Climax play a major role for the success of 7G. The Director has boldly inserted the scene where Anitha requests Kathir to have sex with her, for which we could easily anticipate high voices of opposition especially in the Tamil cinemas ! Gooooossshhhhhh … the Climax is still dancing right in front of my eyes … What an unexpected twist in the story !! Do watch it on your favourite theatres rather than getting it from me …… Hats Off Selvaraghavan Jee !
7G – The MUSIC
As per the latest trend in Tamil Cinemas, you could never go in for your Audio CDs with just the names of Illayaraja or AR Rehman… ‘cause almost every upcoming Tamil film consists of heart-melting / charming music with the new set of Music Directors being introduced. Our young Music Director Yuvan Shankar Raja (son of our Maestro Illayaraja) has given the best songs which keep echoing in our ears for a long time. Most of the songs fit with the situation & “Kan Pesum Vaarthaigal ……” is surely a mega hit ! The 7G theme music is yet another feast to the ears !
7G – The Characters
As for the Characters, 7G as such quickly flashes Sonia Agarwal (Anitha) into our minds. There is comparatively a maturity in Sonia Agarwal’s performance in 7G. Her sweet innocent face with a perfect physique may give her more opportunities in the Gollywood. She has done her role just perfectly and her dubbing artist has given excellent modulations in the voice which has made Sonia quite appealing in 7G.
‘Kathir’ is New Face Ravi Krishna (Am I right that he is R.B. Choudary’s Son ??). His major Plus is his voice which requires a little more better situational accentuation. He looks good and has done his part quite well in the movie. As for his fights & dance movements, he needs to improve a bit. But being a fresher, he has done really well in 7G!
Then worth a mention is our ancient actor Vijayan, who is Kathir’s father. No wonder Vijayan is the best choice for this character. Vijayan shines in the scene where he literally cries when he finds that his son has got a very good job placement but how could he see his son’s appointment order when he has only been always scolding / shouting at his son so far for his irresponsibility. And if he happens to praise his son at this juncture for the new placement, there is a possibility that his son might mistake him that he is only after his son’s money … the Directorial touch ! The other miscellaneous characters are just perfect and nothing worth a mention here !
7G – A FEW WORDS OF FINALE
7G Rainbow Colony is surely an entertainer & a joyful movie in the first half blended with sensitive & heart-throbbing scenes in the second half. Do watch the film for its soothing music and if not for anything else, at least for the wonderful climax which I am sure would be touchy even to the most hard-hearted fellaas !
