I had gone to 5 Spice restaurant at Marine lines last weekend for a get together with my school friends.
The service at restaurant is THE WORST. Its like you are in a bus and you see an empty seat. Then you just run to get that. Even if your name registered in the waiting list, the person who runs and sits on the table, will get it 1st.
Finally after 30 mins we got a table. Even after waiting for more than 20 mins, the waiter dint turn up to take our order, and kept repeating a single statement "1 minute sir, hum aayange".
Coming to the food part: More or less, everything tastes the same. The same sauces and same typical garlic chutney. Quantity is good for the price offered. Nothing to get amazed about.Paneer starters are good, reason being paneer itself is tasty in any form. . Death by chocolate is something people have hyped enough.Its not at all wow like the way people express. Do not order Nanking rice or any pot rice in this branch of 5Spice, if you order them, regret is guaranteed. Burnt Garlic rice is something decent to have.
Ambience is good, but the staff and service is horrible. I asked a waiter to get clean glasses, he took the glass and wiped it with the napkins used by the previous family on that table.
Overall a really bad experience.
My Advice: If you are in South Mumbai and feel the urge to have some good Chinese food, please prefer'All Stir Fry - The Gordon House Hotel' or'Wok Hei'.
