Reading has been a passion for me and I have been reading from ever since I can recollect(Well okay, from when I was 7yrs old). I at that time believed that any thing that can be written can be read and this lead to mine reading so many books, some good and some bad. But now I read only a select few on some topics which really excite me, although I have made exceptions many a times. Selecting 5 books is a very difficult task as it means selecting a few drops from the ocean. Anyways here is the list.

1.   FOUNTAIN HEAD--I have already written a review on this book. This according to me is not just a book, its something to be dwelled upon very seriously. It changed my life a great deal. It is a story about an architect Howard Roark, who is unwilling to live life on somebody else' trems and that as we guys know is quite a problem, has been and always will be, and thus he has to slog it through. But this story is not his entirely, it has other very interesting characters like his girlfriend Dominique, and a smartan Ellesworth and host of other leads. Any did a very good job with this book although her own sanity was a question mark as she died in an assylum. All in all a must read for everybody who like to read.

2.   GODFATHER--Mario Puzzo might not have known that he was writing a dynamite. Yes, that what it is, a dynamite. A story based on MAFIOSO and its head Don Corleone who is settled in America and his sons especially Michael. Also made into a very good film which also went on to become a cinematic classic. Very good plot and sound characterisations. Should not be missed.

3.   HANNIBAL--Have you ever felt scared after reading a horror story. Well I have been and this is not a horror story rather a story about a doctor gone whacko,         Dr. Hannibal Lecter, and his subconcious muse            Ms. Clarice Starling. A very good book about a cat and mouse game which the doctor plays with the police worldwide and keeps them at their toes. If you havent read this already then you havent read anything yet buddy, is what I say.

4.   GREAT EXPECTATIONS--This was the first classic novel I had read and I was very sceptical about reading it because I perceived classics to be very boring. But, how wrong I was. Not only did I enjoy reading this but this novel was etched in my memory forever. Excellent writing can be so simple, by golly, written in such a layman's way, this is one of the masterpieces Dickens wrote. A story about a boy, an orphan PIP who once helped a convict and then his whole life gets changed. Very intense and very emotional.

5.   ADVENTURES OF TOM SAYWER--How can I forget this book? This was the first novel I ever read and at that age was my absolute favorite. I used to think that there cannot be a better novel than this for many years, thats how much I liked it. A very simple story about a boy, an orphan TOM who gets into trouble every now and then because of his mischievousness and makes life very difficult for everyone. A true boyhood book written by Mark Twain, her masterpiece.

Well guys, these were the 5 books which are forever a part of me now and will remain so.

Comments awaited.
