Elvis is a fever in USA. People are still caught by this virus here although Elvis era is gone. There are people who still personify as Elvis. I have seen the banners in Alabama saying ''our own Elvis''...representing a local star who acts like elvis. Never seen any in person although very common on TV and then I saw him in this movie. I have expected it. The name is based on the name of the Elvis villa.
I went to see the movie due to all those big star names like Kurt russel, Kevin Costner, Christian slater and courtney cox. The story is about 3 robbers who rob the casino in las vegas during an Elvis fan convection.
Suddenly bollywood is flooded by all these bandits and robbers movie. I am tired of them. Bandit, Sugar and Spice ......bla bla. Worse of them was sugar and spice. Seems like all these criminals are now heroes in Hollywood. Any tom,dick, harry can decide for robbing a bank. Ocean eleven was all about style so I could see it, Bandits was a little funny, Sugar and spice was a good sleeping pill (i slept so well, I am thinking to buy the DVD, it works so well when you are not feeling sleepy, it was one of the most foolish and brainless movie I have seen). Finally came this one....man I could not sleep, I could not see and also could not run away. End result was a severe headache.
The story catch ups with the plan to rob and then later greed. One reviewer said it so nicely about the movie, I will like to quote it here, ''This low-aiming actioner revels in cheap thrills and cheaper laughs that have already been fully exploited elsewhere.'' There was nothing new. Kurt Russel as good robber (hahahaha) is just foolish and Kevin Costner as a bad robber (he already has proved that he sometimes goes crazy to do movies like Waterworld or should I say goes crazy to do good movies like thirteen days) is just pathetic. He is ........words are not enough.The movie stinks when he is on screen. Kurt russel cpould not do much to rescue as he is a fool in the first place to take this movie. His character in the movie proves it further. Courtney Cox plays a role which suits to her (I wonder if she is the same kid in real life) She is a mom who cares for money and leaves her son with a stranger Michael(Kurt Russel) for money. Later she shows up as being a good mother who knows about Kurt's character and that why fall in love with him. Kurt says the good dialogue ''I lost trust in you''
More and more crap. The Kid is played by a David Kaye and still does better than all these celebrities.
Provided that script is just full of cliche, bad acting on the part of poorly developed characters (those who does not have any character), Bad direction (what is left to direct, but still director has been trying to patch up the age of Kurt and Kevin. Kevin is a big misfit to the character of Murphy). There are no chances of good cinematography or camera work or action or music score (just elvis, I like him but I dont need to see this movie for him)
See it and enjoy the headache afterword. If your boss has also seen this movie, it can be a good excuse to take off from work. Just tell him that you have seen this movie and he will understand. What a crap!
