Choosing Amitabh's Top 10 was surprisingly not a very hard task! When I sat down I think I can come up with only 13-14 movies so the choice is not that difficult?! But if you get down to choose his 10 worst then teh realcompetition starts!:)

I am sad that I can't include my all time favorite **Sharabi** in this list. For some reasons I find the 10 selected movies significant to include in the list. Sharabi was one man show loosely based on Arthur where the Holywood actor got the best actor Oscar. Amitabh was larger than life in this movie. I think this movie serevrs a separate review(so do 10 selected in here)

*(1) Sholay*

Sholay ke kya kehene.Sirf nam hi kafi hain! Veeru-Jay, Gabbar, Sambha, Kalya, Thakur, Surma Bhopali, Angrej ke jamane ke jailor, Ramlal have all become part of our lives. Many people remember all of the dialogs of this movie from start to finish. Many scenes from this movie could be categorised as the best scenes of all times. Gabbar's first scene, Amitabh's discussion with Mausi, Veeru's hungama after that, Surama Bhopali, Asarni. Every scene of this movie has its own impact. All of the dialogs are actually are well known but check the comments section for some some of the'more equal' ones!:)

*(2) Deewar*

Peter tum muzhe dhund rahe ho.aur main yaha tumhara intajar kar raha hun.

Aaj bhi main fainke hwu paise nahi uthata!*(I think this one is Amitabh's most effective dialog in his career without any drama or special arrangement)

Jawo us adami se sign lekar awo jisane mere hath pe ye likh diya tha

Mere pas bungla hain, gadi hain, paisa.tumhare pas kya hain.Shash: Mere pas Maa hain!

Aaj khush to bahot honge tum.*(Amitabh in the Temple of God Shankara begging/praying for his mother)

I think Amitabh's first complete anti-hero & victim of social order. He did have some negative shades in'Parawana' but Deewar was a movie loosely based on Gunga-Jamuna & the Amitabh's character was build better than the original in my humble opinion. Also, Amitabh is more natural than Dilip Kumar who is completely methodical with very thoughtful actions. i.e. even when actions are supposed to be reactive to a dialog, Dilip Kumar comes so prepared that it seems he knew this situation is going to occur. Whereas Amitabh though impressed & inspired by Dilip Kumar's work comes across as more natural & a little more unpredictable than Dilip Kumar.

It is a GREAT virtue of Amitabh that after so many years except for his one typical dialog ending way he doesn't have characteristic action that is repeated in every movie(Dilip Kumar scratching his head is one action he does in every movie). Well, a little change of subject but not at completely wrong place. Due to the originality of Amitabh & also **Salim-Javed** this movie is as important as & as good as the original one. By the way, Dilip Sahab & Big B are as addictive as anything in the world. You got to watch Dilip kumar's old movies to get an idea of his range & depth.

Shashi Kapoor/Nirupa Roy/Neetu Singh/Parween Babi all have made their characters live. Shashi Kapoor got filmfare for his role in Deewar. Amitabh didn't get an award as our industry & sociaety wasn't yet ready for the negative role being awarded as best actor!

*(3) Trishul*

'Aur ek bat bata du main apako Mr R. K Gupta mere paas na apane bapjada ki daulat hain.nahi muzhe chahiye.Mere paas hain to sirf mere maan ka ashirwad'*. Amitabh's entry in this movie got the standing ovation at that time. People across the nation used to stand up & clap in the theatre! Those were the best days of Big B & his performance. Pinnacle of his career. This movie is all about different characters & their interaction with each other.

A highly polished & effective editing makes it all the more pleasant. Amitabh has portrayed the Anti-Hero very effectively the way he tries take Hema away from Shashi Kapoor & the way he challenges Sanjeev Kumar with his scheme just opposite his in the half rate, the way he promotes poonam Dhillon to run away for Sachin etc. The subtle difference in priorities & different characters is handled very well. Amitabh dances with Hema in a party on a very slow song, the moment Shashi Kapoor replaces him, he asks to change the song! Some of interactions with Sanjeev Kumar are also noteworthy. Sanjeev: *'Pehele to muzhe laga mera hi khoon main.badamain dekha to tum jakhmi the!' Mamuli jakhm hain jaldi bhar jayega.Amitabh:'Mere ghav itani jaldi nahi bharate!'

*(4) Agneepath*

One of the best performance from Amitabh. This complete appearance in this movie is phenomenal. Please do read my complete review on this movie(url given below). This is one amazing performance that got the national award for Amitabh. But the same year Ghayal got the filmfare beating Angeepath, Amitabh wasn't that disappointed as to present the award Rekha was on the stage!:)

*(5) Mukkadar Ka Sikandar*

Tragedy of Sikandar's character. Always struggling in life trying find stability & also trying to regain love of his life. An introvert person who can't express himself in front of his love. Amitabh('Sikandar') in this movie represents all the people in the sense everyone is denied *something* in their life! His outburst(again in his mind) after he comes to know about Rakhi-Vinod & the way he checks the glass on the door in the hotel(that he break in his day-dream) is all a class above the greats of the firm industry.

His appearance in *Woh Mukkaddar ka Sikandar Janeman kehelayega* & specially the *'Iske Ageki ab dastan muzhse sun.sunke teri najar dab-daba jayegi.baat dil ki jo ab tak tere dil main thi.mera dawa hain hotho per aa jayegi.tu mahisa muhabbat ke maron ka hain.masihan.masihan muhabbat ke maro ka hain.tu masiha muhabbat ke maro ka hain.Hum tera nam sunake chale ayen hain.Ab dawa de hame tu ya dede jehar.teri mehafil main yeh dil jale ayen hain.Ek Ahsan kar.Ek ahsan kar.Ek ahasan kar apane mehman par.apane mehman par ek ahasan kar.De Duwayen.De duwanye tuzhe umrabhar ke liye.De duwanye tuzhe umrabhar ke liye'

'Na maut Ati hain na memsab aati hain.lekin zhohara-bai tum bohot achha gati ho!':-)* Some light moments in this movie.

Rekha, Vinod, Rakhi have supported him very well & the special mention is deserved by **AMJAD KHAN!** He is just too good in this movie. As a Jinda-Dil pathan he just wins over the public as well as Amitabh. Hi shows that he can take as much attention as a Hero in a Indian movie in Sholay, Qurbani & Mukkddar ka Sikandar! He was a great actor. So sad that he had to suffer an car accident which made him out of action & out of shape.
