Woodlands Garden Cafe, Juhu, Mumbai Reviews

Mumbai India
No longer open

This Place is closed from last year. So folks dont even think about going > the place used to be fabulous where eon e could relish the food served .

However some of the partners by the name of Ramesh Rao and another Rao siphoned large funds due to which the place had to be closed down. So only head n the direction if you want to see it from outside cuz no one will serve you inside

Exquisite South Indian thalis
Aug 24, 2002 02:42 AM 7528 Views

After eating quite often at a South Indian friend's place,

I thought all the Udipi restaurants were quite bogus.

But Woodlands was a complete eye-opener.

Obviously it is not your regular Udipi restaurant; it is a

much high-class Udipi restaurant.

The menu is authentically South Indian starting with the

spicy rasam.

Then there are the regular idlis, dosas, medu vadas, and

uttapas to dig in.

The place also offers South Indian thalis - quite like the

gujju thalis.

There are two varieties of rice alongwith two vegetables

and chapatti and yogurt and of course rasam.

And the regular thali is quite reasonably priced and very

filling.

In case you are not in the mood for a full meal or idlis,

my favourite on the menu is besibilli baath. It is rice

mixed with vegetables and cooked together. Quite like the

biryani only minus the oil and the spice content.

Woodlands also has an indoor (a/c) and outdoor seating. Although

I prefer to sit indoors. Outdoor is just too niosy and has

stand-fans.

For those who love cooking, Woodlands also sells the masalas.

Yet another attraction is the pan (beetle-nut leaf) one gets

while on one's way out.

A nice end to a nice not run-of-the-mill meal.

This is the place to be in if you are wanting to have Thali specially south Indian. It is a reasonable cafe with a average bill of Rs 300 per couple for a proper lunch / dinner. Parking is not a problem but at times there would be a rush specially over the weekend. Its ideal place when you want have homely food. Service is pretty fast and ambience is Good for families and kids. The best part is to have the garam garam rasam it is so soothing for the throat. Again this is only for veggies....so I am sorry for all non-veg eater. Simply because the review I would submit will be only on Veg...as I am one. I keep visiting this cafe once a month at least...so what are you waiting for just go and grab a seat.
