I am speaking of the Whirlpool Super-Capacity Full-sized Washer here (hope I have the right product category).
Throughout my life, I have owned, a total of 4 sets of washers and dryers. Two were used sets and two were brand new (my first new set was given to my daughter after she got married). I would strongly recommend saving up to buy new. My present set was bought in February 2000, so they are about 15 months old. I think that is long enough to merit a fair review.
I purchased a matching set of Whirlpool products, but let's focus on their Whirlpool (Super-Capacity) Washer, for now. I'm not one to read appliance instructions at my age. I feel by this time, I can go into an appliance store ask for one that will handle my needs and the rest is old hat, as far as how to wash the clothes. I must say though this was not always the case. So for those who are purchasing new for the first time, ask questions and get advice from your friends. I chose to buy this product because of the Whirlpool's reputation for dependability and reliability.
Years back when I was a child; everyone hung their laundry out to dry, leaving their washer/ user abilities visible for the neighborhood to see. I still hang my wash out, as I live on a big old farm, in rural Ontario. I feel my new washer helps, do me proud. I am a clean fanatic and more often then not find laundry to wash, so the washer had better be ready for constant work. This one is up to the job.
It has a large wash drum to handle an over-sized load, while maintaining the ability to thoroughly cleaning the entire load. The more clothes washed within one load, the less loads, the more time for other things (you do the math, works for me!). I raised 7 children and was one, who washed each child's winter coat, weekly (one every night of the week), so I know the advantage of a washer having the ability to handle heavy items as well, the (Super-Capacity)Washer is up to the task. This would go for over-sized items such as comforters and heavy work clothes, like overalls.
I would suggest you use the bleach/ fabric softener dispenser in the machine as it really does prevent bleach spots and disperses the liquids evenly. I find the washer is quiet and smooth running, as well. I looked up the instruction book before writing this review and was surprised to see they even offer load sizes and examples (here is one such example)
Super sized load (not bad at all)
3 pairs slacks
3 shirts
4 pairs of jeans
2 pair overalls
My example (of a good sized load)
2 sheets and matching pillowcases
2 bath towels & 2 face clothes
1 tablecloth, 4 tea towel & 4 dish clothes
I double comforter
2 dress shirt
The Whirlpool(Super-Capacity) is a great washer, for a growing family. One, that can handle, a little more than an average washing machine. It carries a 1-year-warranty but I would suggest the 5-year-extended warranty where available (there is also a 10-year extended-warranty on this product, where available).
This is definitely getting your money's worth.
