Hi All,


I bought 190 Elite whirlpool on jan 2005. It was running fine till October. October its compressor suddenly stopped working. I called the service center and lodged my complaint . I purchased this fridge from Bangalore . I lodged complaint on October. A service guy visited and told me compressoris failed. Compressor needs to be replaced which was under warranty, he told he will back tmrw to replace the compresser but he failed he never turn back, same thing happen more four times different guys comes says the same and promise to come back tommorow again . But till date no one as return. when ever I call they some are the other reason .But now it's December no are bother to provide service .I hope these guys are keen on there fubolous adds and forgets to provide the services. I believe why the whirlpool management are paying to the jobless poeple where they are not at all bother to attend the call and when they do they place on hold for then 10 minutes and cut the call.


I guessthere is no connection between customer care center and service center.There is no communication from any side after more than 100calls from my sides. I am totally frustrated with their service and will never buy Whirlpool product and advice all of readers the same. They know how tosell the product and then forgot to service. I do not know what to do now should I go for consumer court. I amwriting this review only because to aware all of you about the bad serviceprovided by whirlpool.

The other no is 6512539 which a madam picked once and when Itold her no body picking 6512540 she said try it again. And after that whenagain I tried to contact 6512539 she just picked up the phone and disconnectedit. It happened more than 10 times and I have all the call details in my phonefor this 1 second call. This was their behavior. Customer care also given memobile no of Service manager of Faridabadwhich was switched off from last 5 days. I told this to customer care and theysaid they will escalate my complaint to higher authorities, but till today noaction has taken care of my complaint and I still have junk box lying at myhouse.

I would not recommend Whirlpool refrigerator to anybody.


First of all - its plastic material is of extremely poor quality. Not sure if there is any quality control on these products or its a deliberate ploy by the company to increase its sale of spare parts. Most of its tray and plastic parts wore off in first 6 months of our purchase.


When I went to Whirlpool spare shops, I was in for rude shock. I was told that there are so many models that company is finding is difficult to produce spare parts for all the models. After my futile search for 2-3 months, I gave up.


But the last thing which has happened, I was never prepared for that. Its door came off and when I called up service centre, I was told that its a normal problem as door hinges on a plastic part which breaks under weight, however for our model there is no replacement.


I don't know what makes Whirlpool such a big name in US. I think our old Kelvinator was best refrigerator for Indian conditions.

Whirlpool Frost free refrigerators has been one of tghe top most selling refrigeratore in India.


I have emense pleasure to write that I have seen the service , durability and the consitence performance of the brand from the past eight years and so. Whielpool product user recommened the same to their relatives and friends not because of they have brougt but because of the consistence and trouble free performance. The wew utility drawer provided for their frost free range in their Delux model is a feather to their cap, as it is very useful for the customer. The 220ltrs refrigarator is very sapcious compared to other brands because of the refrigerator part is more in capacity comared to the other brands like Samsung Electrolux and LG . As per my experience with the Whirlpool customer I have come across most of them are satisfied with the product they have bought. Though the service is very good in up country it has to bit flexible in timings in the Metros like bangalore so that it helps the company to do better business by giving better to best services to the end consumers, as they are the media of Campaign without any budget

There were some teething problems,sorted out very fast by Whirlpool customer care at Kolkata.


The cooling is ok,though they use the same compressor as in the 220L/250L models.They kind of fill in more gas than these models,since the internal cooling area of 285L model is more.But this is a trade off.


The 6th sense technolgy is handy,enables faster cooling.


Design ia not all that great,could have been wider instead of merely tall.The looks are nice,with a steel finish exterior.The shelf design could have been more ergonomical,Whirlpool could have spent more money in planning the internal space


The handles are horizontal,a distinct disadvantage.


The freezer section is excellent,very wll planned,enabling one to define separate temparature zones,to stock meat,veggies etc.The ice box is clumsy,though.


In a nushell,a decent,value for money buyo remember to take the extender warranty offer at Rs 840 for 5 years,it is a good investment.

We purchased the Whirlpool FF450 Ice Magic (Silver body) refrigerator a year ago. Though a tad more expensive than the white model, the fridge looks quite lovely and my mother fell for it.


When it arrived the body had little bulges and bumps. We filed a complaint with the dealer and the fridge was replaced within two days.


Whirlpool has subcontracted service to independent agencies, and I must say that we have got extraordinary service from our local agent, CITU Services. The machine ran into several problems. First, the colling panel inside was working poorly and not distributing the temperature consistently. Faisal, our guardian angel at CITU replaced it within a day.


Then post the floods, there were power fluctuations and the power unit broke down. It was again replaced within three days as the model was Brazilian and the parts had to be flown down from Brazil.


Our compressor also broke down in the first year itself, and we were wondering if we made a wise choice. But Faisal and the Whirlpool team worked overnight to replace it within 36 hours. The service has been exemplary.


You might think that I was lucky that all the breakdown took place within one year itself and was covered by warranty. But Whirlpool offers a unique 7-year warranty on alll its parts, (you need to pay an additional Rs 2000 for the extra six year warranty, but with such lovely service, it is worth it).


The fridge has been working really fine SINCE THEN.

I have purchased F23DLX Double Door refrigirator on 4th Feb 2006.


Since then it has stopped cooling for 3 times once in each month during the first three months itself. When I complain to the Customer Care, Hyderabad, the service man comes in fills-in with some gas in the compressor, assures that the problem would not be repeated next time, which obviously is true only for one month.


Now on May 08th I have submitted a written request for replacement of the unsatisfactory piece through my dealer. Its almost 4 weeks now and I have had no communication from Whirlpool, but the techincian had visited my house twice (I guess my house is a good tourist place for him) and returned back to his den with no response. The basic purpose of purchasing a refrigerator was not served during the entire summer for me.


DO NOT PAY UP FOR SUCH A TROUBLE !!


I hope, someday my problem gets resolved and I get to drink a glass of a chilled drink.

Oh God why did whirpool make ref............................................


This model is a mere non sense.


Its compressor failed the second day I purchased it.


I know that a compressor can fail anytime.


BUt we had to follow up for three weeks to get it checked up as to why was it not cooling.


Then finally a fellow from customer care turned up.


We got it changed.We got a new fridge... same model.


And to my surprise, after two days I noticed that that door rack of the fridger was broken and then on the same day the lights of the fridge had also gone.


Next was the turn of door open alarm.


The alarm stopped to work.


I was surprised Whirlpool meant complete trouble to us.


To add to it, we had to follow up for three weeks with customer care to come to our home and check the trouble.


After three weeks when the person turned up he said he could not do anything and his senior needs to come. when he called his senior, his senoir refused to come as he was on his duty but not feeling like coming!!!!!!!!!!! OH GOD!!!!!!


Then we went to Vijay Sales, Goregaon east,(from where we had purchased the item), and asked them to get that piece of non sense out of our home.


We got rid of that nusiance and purchased a 366 LTRS LG ref..... thats jus perfect.


We had initally gone to purchase that only but due to hard pursual of the sales executive at Vijay sales, we was succesful in finishing off his stock of pathetic Whirpool.......


Never Buy..... One of my friend is also facing the same problem with whirpool, same model and within six months planning to throw it off.....


NEVER BUY THIS CHEAT PRODUCT!!!!!!!!!!!


Bad product! Unsuitable for India

We got this refrigerator when it was introduced. Imported piece, looked good. performance is not bad but it comes with a long list of associated problems.




  1. The PCB resets to high whenever the power goes off, forces the machine to run at high till you reset it manually. We had a compressor blowout as a result.




  2. The PCB was also not suitable for indian conditions, blew out twice.






All were replaced by the whirlpool tech service. The problems continued till a indianized pcb was introduced by whirpool after 1 year or so.


While the product is asthetically pleasing and has decent performance, we had to go through hell for more than a year before the problem was set right.


All in all, Avoid the imported whirlpool models. the company imports blindly without doing its homework.Then the serivce tries to compensate by changing parts that have the same problems.


It takes the company a long time to realize simple issues faced by consumers, and then more often than not, we still end up paying to rectify their mistakes

I needed a fairly large refrigerator for my family since the earlier refrigerator was woefully small. I considered Siemens, Kelvinator a few other brands before settling on this one. Whirlpool was recommended by friends, family and the salesperson. This one has a large door shelves and a large freezer (great if you are a meat eater).


The shelves are made of toughened glass and can withstand 90kg of load (which is amazing) and are a breeze to clean. Multiple shelves with slots to adjust the shelf height as per our requirement is useful if you have large jars or short pans. The refrigerator has external settings to manage the cooling. The freezer has its own setting inside.


The vegetable compartment is large and spacious for all sorts of vegetables. The crisper (under the freezer) is also large to store semi frozen and prepacked vegetables.


I have had this product for over 14months now and it has been performing silently and efficiently. Everyone in the family loves it. All in all its a very decent product with low electricity consumption and also has great looks.

My WP Icemagic is less than 3 years old and stopped working already. When I called up they diagnosed it to be a PCB burn-out problem. I will have to accept that they have a pretty good diagnostic facilities using the displays in the refrigerator. However, they don't have a clear answer as to what could have caused the problem. They guessed that it could have been caused by power fluctuations. But, I had a stabilizer to protect my refrigerator from power fluctuations. After the fist call to the custoer service, it took nearly three weeks and multiple calls to the service center for them to replace the PCB. I was told the PCB has to come from their manufacturing facility. What was irritating was their false promises. Everytime you call up, they would promise that it would be fixed that very evening itself. And then nobody calls and no explanations. After couple of days you give up and call again and you receive one more promoise and the false-promise-cycle continues.


Product OK, the scheme sucks

I have bought the Whirlpool refrigerator and the product is performing reasonably. However, at the time of purchase the company provides you with free holiday vouchers from Travelport. Now this part of the deal sucks big time. Travelport is one big unprofessional company, whose entire objective seems to delay / harass the voucher holders. So, in case you narrow down on a Whirlpool refrigerator, insist on a discount rather than accepting the holiday voucher, as the holiday voucher is no good anyways.


The product has a good look and it suited my interiors well. I had a limitation of 22'' space pre-created for a refrigerator and I had a requirement of no less than 250 L fridge. Going through all options, I had only 2, Godrej and Whirlpool. I would not take Godrej even for free, so the only option was Whirlpool. So, inspite of words of cautions from my friends, I went ahead with the Whirlpool product and as of date I am a satisfied customer.

Bought F30Elite model yesterday, 285 litres frost free double door. we had to contact service because while precooling the fridge to keep items inside, after an hour of operation the door to the main compartment became so tightly shut that the entire fridge used to move and shift without the door opening! gave up and shut down the fridge to avoid using excessive force and causing damage. next day as usual at 4.30 in the evening the service guy showed up and told us the solution to the problem is to ''open the freezer door first and then keep it open while opening the main refrigerator compartment ( equalize air pressure! ) and then naturally shut the freezer door and then the door of the main compartment'' told us that we have to do this 1-2-3 step ritual every time for around 3 months!! and then the problem should solve itself!?(probably) this we are told is caused by new technology (my a**) a year old exactly the same model with our neighbours had no such problems service says the gasket seal should wear out (hello?!) and make things o.k. , and that older models didn't have as good a sealing gaskets (what?!) by the way we have been trying to buy the same model for 3 months now here at mangalore karnataka, the biggest dealer 'harsha' gave up after sending 3 damaged ( badly dented ) pieces at diwali time we got a refund and tried luck at 'girias' who have a much wider branch network the fridge was not dented (tiny dimple) but dirty inside which was promptly cleaned with wax and polish, but since the service guy touching it and 'levelling' it the body is now uneven from baby-bottom smooth earlier the compressor has been noisier than our 18 year kelvinator masterpiece for quite long periods, and inspite of levelling and turning screws at the bottom the vibrations of the compressor happen quite frequently ( working past 8 hrs only, can it be believed?! ) the whole goddamn thing shakes from top to bottom at the slightest touch bad build and material and service to boot also delivery and handling is very bad in general and heart wrenching usually fridges can be kept horizontal but only on a particular side marked as such on the carton, but the delivery people say they know better and the side the compressor is etc. and the chosen side keeps varying still the thing worked after waiting the mandatory 2 hrs. since delivery the manual is completely silent on the problems and no mention of the side heating effect (cooling coils at 3 sides) is there (1 time at the end in the checklist to be submitted by the service guy) the visuals are of older model thank you america's no.1 brand but never again


NEWS NEWS NEWS.....Some 3 months after the complaint here on at whirlpool website, some people contacted and after discussing on phone came to check at house. There they told the REAL PROBLEM. There is a vent..a hole..valve ...whatever ...which allows air to be sucked in while door opens. They had forgotten to make that valve. Usually at bottom, crisper, veg tray area. Now they proposed to drill in fridge and stick it. My sister (doctor) shouted at them, that if some doctor does something wrong then people cry about malpractice, and what kind of solution is this? etc. They accepted that they will give new fridge rather than drilling and what not. We tried out at the dealer 'girias' for new models. The process took almost a year because of non availability of model etc. The models change so fast we went for F30 Elite as replacement paying some difference (in current prices of the two models). But again most fridges failed the dent inspection (twisted foot, scrapes) and after 3-4 visits to the dealer we got one home. Fine now. Shakes a bit (tried all leveling tricks, difficult to get right), not so strong build, the body twists and squeaks with little load here and there. But ok cooling.

I had a Whirlpool 320 litre Fridge for the last 4-5 years and had to go in for a new one in exchange as the compressor of the old refrigerator packed up. I presume that happened because of our heartless electricity which fluctuates badly. We found the quality of the old fridge good and had no complaints. The new Ice Magic 400l Elite also looks good. However the fridge was delivered by a rickshaw puller who wanted someone to help him to unload and cart the fridge into the house. This was quite a task and speaks badly of the company. The company is insensitive to the customer. I would advise anybody going in for a fridge to use a good quality voltage stabiliser in view of the type of electric supply in our country. Although the compressors are nowadays carrying a 5 to 7 years warranty its always better to be extra careful in view of the undependable after sales service that most companies give.

If you r going for it I wont stop u from doing so, certainly the US flag on the items looks like a seal of quality. I wont comment about the quality because I have recently got one and like any other refrigrtor this one also converts water to ice ( even my last one which I sold for 2000/- did so.)


Problem comes when u ask the firm for any maintenance and then one discovers that this is being run by total desis. Just no commitment.


THey will ask u all questions like a mnc... When do u want our engineer to vist.


... Thankx etc etc




  1. Now engineer will visit at his own convenience not as per your.




  2. More than one will visit.




  3. ALl of them will again ask you ... what is the problem.




  4. After a week problem remains but these engineers stop ringing ur door bell at odd hours u feel relieved.




  5. Problem remains.




  6. U again call them up and to ur surprise.. u have to again explain what is wrong. ''Sir as per our records the job is completed'' comes the response from whirlpool helpdesk. u explain them that in the worksheet u have mentioned the problem persists. ''Sir that might be your copy but my computer says problem rectified'' comes the reply.




  7. Again start from step 1.






I have done this thrice. Now called up their head office. Again repeat from step 1. This time I got only assurance and only difference was that their nobody visited and we were not disturbed.


Moral of the story. Problem will remain, If you do not want to be disturbed dont complain.

Beware of the delivery man!

I recently bought a Whirlpool Ice Magic 400L double door fridge from Viveks (Indiranagar, Bangalore). I did a decent amount of price-hunting on that day and found that Viveks offered the best price (Rs. 27100). Other folks were at least Rs. 300-400 above Viveks.


First lesson I learned while price hunting was that 400L models of any manufacturer is not popular. Normal capacity seems to mean <=350L. Anyone who buys a higher capacity seems to go for >=450L. As a result, no one had a 400L fridge on display.


None of the dealers had this model in stock, either, in their warehouses. However, Viveks was able to deliver the frigde by the end of the day, though they had committed to deliver only in 3 days!


Second lesson I learned is about the delivery process. The 230kg fridge needed to be lifted to my 5th floor house, and the lift was a good 100m away from the entrance to the apartment. The fridge just about fits into a small lift (a typical small 6-person lift).


While taking the fridge out of the lift, the delivery boys tilted it almost horizontal. Convention wisdom is that fridges cannot be tilted >45 degree. The delivery boys confidently told me that this is not a problem (''just wait for an hour before you switch the fridge on''). So, I waited for a couple of hours, switched on the fridge - which worked for 1 day and promptly died the next evening.


Third lesson I learned is not to give away the old fridge for at least 2-3 days. Once my new fridge came, I promptly gifted my old one to someone. So when the new fridge died on me late in the night, I had to run to my neighbors apartment and store essentials in his fridge.


Fourth lesson I learned is that service centers (at least the Whirlpool service center) does not work on Sundays or work late. I waited patiently with a non-working fridge - and the Whirlpool technician walked in late in the afternoon the next day. He promptly diagonised that the compressor had died due to freezing agent getting into it.


It took another day for Whirlpool to bring a replacement fridge - this time they sent two small ''kids'' to bring the fridge to the 5th floor (in spite of being told about the complexity of the task!). After getting some local help, they managed to install the fridge and the new one now works well.


Summary:




  • Being a vegetarian, I like the proportion of freezer space vs. fridge space offered by Whirlpool. This one has the smallest freezer (97L freezer vs. 303L rest of the fridge)




  • Good performance (after the initial hiccups), though the observation period is only a couple of days now




  • Punctual sales (Viveks) and service (Whirlpool): they commit very conservative, but keep their commit




  • Decent amount of storage space in the doors




  • Slow in responsiveness: Time is measured only in 24-hour increments. ''Tomorrow'' means late evening tomorrow - saving grace is that they tell this to you clearly upfront that it IS late evening tomorrow. They don't tell you ''first thing tomorrow'' and turn up ''last thing tomorrow''




  • Compressor failure due to freezing agent seeping into it (for some unexplained reason): Not clear if the compressor failure in the first 24 hours itself was due to transportation mistakes. The two-hour waiting period before I switched the fridge on, is supposed to have been adequate precaution against transportation mistakes, so I'm suspecting there might have been a quality problem with my fridge too




  • glass racks - none of the higher capacity models offer the classical wire rack, which seems to be the intuitively stronger thing (since I typically tore food in steel vessels, like South indians usually do)




  • No door lock!! I didn't notice this in the showroom, realized only after the fridge was delivered. Apparently, this can be fitted later at additional charge, but I haven't ventured into that yet.

I got this fridge after hearing people in the market talk that LG & whirlpool are the market leaders.


I dont know why I preffered this brand over the other Korean one.


(for one reason its good, LG fridges are not wide enough for Indian utensils)


Just for no reason except that I knew this brand before I knew LG as a brand I bought this.


People said I only needed a 180-200 lts fridge. But went on & bought this 260 lts. ELite(costs bit more than normal 260 lts).


After 11 months the bottom plastic part broke off.This made it impossible to close the door of the fridge id I open it once. So can't ope & close the fridge.


Called up the service person,


Promptly came said it was under warranty & said will bring the replacement part.


Next day one more person comes says it is not covered under warranty.


So I had no choice but to pay.Rs.225 for the plastic panel.


This within one year of buying the fridge and only 2 people using it .


This din't satisfy me at all. Although I didn't have any other problems with this fridge, this itself self a sour taste in my mouth.


So as always buyers beware. Check out everything before you bu, and dont go by the market.

Bought FF 250 EL Fridge freezer of Whirlpool one and a half year ago. Stooped working suddenly. Called on service turned up after 2 days! to say Compressor Gone? collected visit fee. Next day another team to fit compressor with another visit fee.and the parts costs as well. It carries one year comprehensive warrenty and 6 year compressor warrenty. The company never offered service contract at the time of purchase nor at the end of one year.Last of the whirpol. Beware.Over all I am dis satisfied with the product and worse is careless attitude of the sercice. Nowadays nopoint in talking to call centre guy. He only takes call. No point talking to service technician he only calls up. There is no responsible person to listen to customer. Dealer also gets away after the sale is done pocketing his commission.Because service is outsourced to Frnachise. Companies get away with these kind of arrangements.If u are thinking of buying Whirlpool product perticularly the refrigerator think twice.Dont waste your money on such product there r perhaps better options available in market.
