People have a common idea that western union is expensive but actually it is much cheaper than using international master or visa cards for getting money.

The process for sending or getting money through western union:




  1. You have to provide your original id card, licence or passport.




  2. For sending money you gotta fill a form with the information of receiver name , id number and address. After filling the form the western union service provider will give you a reference number which you have to share with payee.




  3. In the case of getting money, A. you need to approach to the nearest western union service provider center.






B. Share the reference number which was given by payer to the respective person.


C. Submit your original id card and make sure to take back from the service provider person .


D. Fill the required form with following information:


Your name ( same as id) , sender name, sender address, relationship with sender, amount expected , you own address.


E. Submit the form to respective person, after confirmation you can collect your money.


Friends western union charges is less than international atm cards. So I suggest to all of you .

I got recive money from dubai through weatern union but its seems like they didn't told thier term and condition. when I goes to recive money receive money. I've showed them my security code.


and they ask for my id. I show him but this isnt over yet. they asked me show 4 of my id ( including passport, driving licence, aadar card etc) . but unfortunatly I got only 2 of them.


and they refuse me to give my money to me and told me about there policy, well I didnt understand who the hell bring fruad code there. everthing was right only I've lack of ID'S.


its peculier and pathtic service I ve been seen. and they told me when somebody sent money from international you must have to 4 id of yours.


well then why the hell they don't mention their term and condition. and aslo they ask for additional 200rs to process my 2000 in case I got all the four id.


this is crazy but true, m not upto reciving and sending money through western union, better do paypal to recive from other country.

Never ever try western union, they just make you go pillar to post and does nothing. first you can never track your transaction online and when you call them, they only say its going to happen soon. My first transaction took ages to complete and the second transaction went on hold and they are telling they require multiple proofs of my ID and letter from bank and if no document is submitted, the amount will not be refunded as well. crap service provider. They even ask for Online banking password which I denied


I spent hours talking to customer service to authenticate my account but it didn't work as well! I won't recommend it to anyone!

Western union costs a higher amount of commission for money transfers that is not a good thing. The mode of transaction of money is quite simple but sometimes takes a lot of time to reflect balance in your bank account which irritates me very much because I need western union at hard circumstances so that my money will be transferred immediately to the other account but sometimes it fails to do so.

I was doing small transactions with western union before I did not had any problem with them it was very good and convenient to send or receive money but few months back mu uncle had sent me some reasonable amount for some of my personal needs which was really urgent he had sent immediately but these western union people had kept the money on hold stating its holidays wich was not there, after all the calls and mails they just transferred the money o me after week it was very pathetic never trust these people

Please do not trust these Western Union idiots. I nearly reached to death waiting for my money to be returned.


I initiated a transaction via Western Union for$999 in USA.


Receiver in India never received the money since 4 years. When I asked to return, they only said me to call this number- 877-316-3151(Claims, money transfer settlement department) & I did.


The only answer I received for 20 times is "Please wait for the claims forms to be mailed, to fill & submit to receive the refund amount" - Which F* never happened since 4 years.


You will be saving my whole families lives, if anyone helps me in getting my money back from these S

I had a account with western union .they had deducted money from my account without any notice when I tried to contact customer care they never ever reapond.whenever we try to login to western union account online it never log in my id pass word whenever ask with log in it says login credentials wrong and wehenver we try sending money online it fails automatically .very very bad company for transaction of our account .service need to be better in order ti build a company .i dont recommend anybody to do transactions with WU

Sometime when my family needed money urgently I ran down to western union to send money.and it easy to my coworker to ask for sending money back to my home when I don't have time to go down.it is fast and convenient.and easy to my family also to get the money that I have sent.especially we living in a remote area, when u take the bus going to the capital it takes 4-5hours and u need to wait for the bus to get passengers until it is full.western union make us easier to send and receive money

When my elder brother goes to Jeddha( Saudi Arabia) for job, there was a big problem in handling the cash, and transferring the cash in india.


We searched a lot and one of friend told about western Union through which one can send desired amount of Riyals to their loved ones anywhere in the world.


Then I called my brother and told about this, he then sent 300 SR to my name in india and told me to visit the Western Union in the city along with aadhar card and the transaction number.


I did the same and the guy in the office has given me Rs.5200. So by this way our problem was solved and till now we are receiving monthly payments from my brother via Western Union.

My name is Tabrez Mahamad. It is unfortunate that I chose Western Union to transfer my money in the amount of about$1600.00 to India "in minutes." No customer should have to face the ordeal that I am facing because of what seems to be a scam orchestrated by Western Union holdings in the name of money transfer in minutes.


My ordeal started when I chose Western Union to transfer my money to India in minutes. I booked a transaction through my debit card.


What happened next was a shocker and I had no idea that I had become a victim of an elaborate WU scam. Just a few minutes later I got a couple calls that I missed as I was at work. At about 10 am I got an email from Western Union that my transaction was declined by Western Union, for reasons undisclosed to me. I later visited my bank to complete the transfer at the bank.


However, I was shocked to find out that my money was already taken out from my account and Western Union had it. I called WU customer care and after going through what seemed like an eternity of being on hold, I was told that it can to take up to 3 to 10 days to get my money back.


My issue is that I was never informed of any validation call that I should expect to get from WU beforehand, so that I could be ready for it. Secondly, my transaction was cancelled just because I missed a couple calls, it could have been left pending instead. Thirdly, my money was fraudulently withdrawn from my account without my knowledge and withheld by Western Union as part of the process.


Now, I have no money to transfer when my family needed it the most. To add to all the frustration is the ordeal I need to go through dealing with customer care agents just to get my own money back.


I am deeply affected by this corporate scam and I can never trust Western Union with my money again. I have demanded my money back immediately without any further delay. If they fail to do so, I will lodge a formal complaint with the jurisdiction.

First contact is their computerized agent. It take s to long to find what you need and the voice recognition often fails. You have to scream few times before it responds. Then they failed to confirm by phone and again by e-mail.


Because of that, the funds we withdrawn from my account but not available at the other end. To correct it , took 3 agents with foreign accent, repeating my data over and over again.


NEVER AGAIN!

HORRIBLE , HORRIBLE SERVICE! I will find another way of sending money if the need ever arises. There is always Fed Ex. I was trying to send money from AZ to IA on Saturday, Jan 8th. According to the website you can do this over the phone. Well, the man I spoke to quoted me different prices.


Because of this misinformation I canceled the transaction and tried to do this online. I was successful until they tried to do a third party verification. Which was denied, as they could not verify the phone number I was calling from. Because you call a call center somewhere in the world, there seems to be a language barrier. I asked to try again using the same number and was told they can only try once.


So I tried again online and was successful or so I thought. I checked my bank balance and discovered that I was charged twice! Well, needless to say, I was very angry! Called the call center and demanded my money back! I was told it would take 12-24 hours. As of 2:00pm on Monday the 10th, my money was not returned. To make a long story short, I made 4 phone calls to try to speak to a supervisor. The 4th call I finally spoke to a supervisor and he was no help at all.


On Monday, after many , many, many calls to the U.S. office of Western Union, I finally spoke to a Customer Advocate, Linda Rigby. She apoligized numerous times and assured me that these employees should be retrained and my money returned to me immediatly.


As a gesture of good faith, Ms. Rigby, offered to refund the fees I paid A.S.A.P. Today is February 2nd and I still haven't received my check.


So, don't use Western Union! Customer service is something they don't take pride in!

Jun 2010 friend from US send me money to Cusco Peru and Wester union send money to Trujillo Another state in Peru and was pick up in this place.


When I tried to get some information in WU Cusco were very unhelpful telling that I pick up the money so I have made a fraud investigation and police force WU to prove my signature and they lose because my signature was falsified. But is not possible to get back the money because WU have staff of lawyer making my life unpleasant

WESTREN UNION SENT MY MONEY TO THE WRONG COUNTRY WHERE IT WAS PICKED UP BY A STRANGER AND REFUSE TO REIMBURSE ME!!!!


I have been WU customer for over 6 years. I have an extended family in Ukraine and use WU at least once a month to send $$ to my relatives overseas. Last time (April 2009) instead of sending money to Sevastopol, Ukraine, they sent it to Russia (even though the receipt clearly says UKRAINE). Obviously my relative in Ukraine could not pick it up, and when I called WU they only said that money is available and the receipient needs to double-check the MTCN.


This has been going on for two weeks when finally they said that the money has been picked up in ST. PETERSBURG, RUSSIA! Both me and my husband spend hours on the phone with customer support people trying to resolve this but they were very rude and unhelpful (especially a guy named Jorge ('Hor-hee). We have filed a fraud investigation and three weeks later received a response that the money had been paid correctly according to the agreement (?) and there is nothing else Western Union can do for us. This was the LAST time we ever used them.

My sister send me $ I did not get it, western union  blocked  $ and return back..I was calling to them many times to understand what happen , but nobody could not explained me. Every times they said me different ...it looks like they does not  understand anything what they do. I will never recommend western union. Very-very bad service. They did bad job. I spend 3 day to talk with them, but  I did not recessive that information  what I need


Honestly Western Union Money Transfer is the worst service  The Western Union money transfer service doesn't work, and it is more expensive than anything else I've found.


Moneygram is user friendly and more effective.


Use them instead, and avoid the upsets

I have had the displeasure of having to use western union. With one of my vendors in hong kong. First of all the first time i tried to send money, i had spent time trying to make the payment over the internet and was then told to call to verify.


After waiting 30 mins on the phone, i spoke with a man who asked me everything from social ins # dob, etc... After i gave him all that info his system crashed. Then had to do it again. Once i gave him all the info he said the charge couldn't go through, as there was a prob with the card. I called the credit card co. And sorted out. The next day i did the same thing. Waited on the phone for way to long then spoke with an agent who took all my info then said she couldn't process the order.


After being on the phone with w.u. for over two hours in 24 hrs for one payment under $1000 wanted to know why. She said she couldn't tell me why. My business requirements weren't met. I was extremely frustrated as i am a ligit business and answered all her questions honestly & promptly i found this to be most frustrating. After being assured that there was no way the funds would go through i told her about the call the previous night and she then put me on hold then came back and said ok, she could send the funds. When i asked her why now, she said “didn’t know you did that last night.” I thought that was very strange, an inconsistent.


I now today tried the same process, online (said my avail sending limit is $60) so called w.u. was put through to 3 different individuals, terrible phone connections, they couldn’t hear anything (had the same prob. Before) i was put through to one individual who said for me to send funds over the phone would cost me $25 to hong kong & $68 online (the next agent then told me it would cost $68 to send over the phone) she then said she would put me through to someone who could send the funds for me.


Once going through the entire process and answering all her questions, her system crashed!!!! Again, i had to give her my details, after being on the phone with w.u. for almost an hour she said “sorry ma’am, we can’t send the funds your business doesn’t reach the requirements” when i asked her what it was that she needed for me to be able to send the funds she said she couldn’t tell me! I understand security, but this is just weird & illogical. She said i could only go to a western union & pay by cash! Why would i do that???? If i wanted to pay cash why wouldn’t i just send a fax to my bank to wire the funds, and avoid the hassel & inconvience of western union & your ridiculous fees!!!! This is the most frustrating company i have ever dealt with. I use paypal on a regular basis to pay for merchandise overseas and have never had to deal with such incompitance. I got understandably very irritated with her and asked to speak with a superviser, she put me on hold, after waiting 10 mins, i decided this is a joke and hung up, she called me back promptly and said “sorry ma’am we were able to send the funds through…” i thanked her and hung up. Five mins later i got another call from her saying “sorry we weren’t able to send the funds, your business doesn’t reach the requirments…” i think western union is a joke. It is opporated more like it is run by baphoons. I don’t know how you are still around. And have had my time wasted. As a new mother with a business to run i can’t believe what incompatince there is over there & inconsistansy. If my business doesn’t reach your requirments to send money, then i don’t know who will! I have seen western union often used for those scams for sending money, and if that is the type of customer you would rather have, than actually ligit businesses, then good luck. Western union better sort itself out, you need better computer systems obviously for one, better phone lines, so people can actually hear each other, and consistency. Why am i always told i can’t then can? Why am i quoted different sending amounts from your opporaters? Why can’t you ask me questions and find out more about my business to make it so i do reach your business requirements? Why can i send funds one time than not the next?


If i was an investor i would be seriously scared! Investing in western union is not a good idea, as nobody knows what the hell they are doing over there! And in this day and time you better get with the program, otherwise companies like paypal, will squash you, if they haven’t already!


It’s an absolute gongshow over there!!!! Don’t you tape all conversations? I think you should start listening to those conversations to improve yourselves. I am in complete & udder shock that western union is still in business!
