I am an ex student of the Varthur branch.
I am not originally from Bangalore from but Bombay. And I had the most harrowing experience a student can go through. I face a lot of bullying from not just the students(which stopped over time due to my indifference towards my bullies and finding a friend who went through the similar experience) but also from the Teaching staff. They alomst made it a point to make me feel like an outside(and their belief that I am automatically a delinquent because I am from mumbai)
Teachers and the staff than teaching and remaining in there professional boundaries would poke their nose into the personal lives of the students, interfere and gossip about it in the staff room.
They also enforce disgustingly conservative gender roles. I would most ofent than not be on the receiving end of harsh treatment from the teacher for talking cordially with the other Sex.
Things like sex-ed, gender equality(recognising lgbt), crimes against women etc left our teachers blushing and making the subject a taboo aming students.
Again and again re-enforcing NOT indian culture BUT the Hindu religion.
Being from a family where both Hinduism and Islam was professed, I was often left out of palce in rituals I never had to take part in& forgotten on Eid.
For my liberal upbringing my morals were often questioned.
I am going through the trouble of posting this as I don't want any other child to suffer ther way I did. Please, do go and look for other better schools even of it means to hold back your child for a year.
Better that, than put your child in this school.
