Gone with the Wind
Apr 29, 2009 07:37 PM 2131 Views

Every review of this place will start with how windy this place is and how apt the name is. So lets take that for granted and move on with the meat.

Its a classical BJN group place - chic but expensive. Their USP is their location and they have utlilized it to the maximum. Nice al fresco seating, cozy interiors, warm lighting all blend together to give this place a very trendy but yet natural look. The crowd that frequents this place is neither too young nor too old which makes it a comfortable place to chill out at.

The drinks are their biggest dissapointment. They have all the regular names on the menu and BJN prices to match. But I would either get a new bar tender or question their integrity in providing weak and watered down drinks. I have been there twice and I always get the feeling that I am not getting what I ordered.

The starters are expensive but are really well done. They have kept the assortment select so that you dont end up just eating. Service is very good and friendly. The staff is ready to accomodate your requests for seat changes and special orders.

The music is not too great and not too loud. So you can actually have a conversation (surprise!!). Have valet parking of Eva Mall and if you are relatively early on weekends it should be easy to secure a spot. Need a place to go out on a date or just chill out with some close friends, then head to Vaayu.

A Star-lit romantic experience

It was a Thursday evening before the much hyped Valentine's day falling on a Sat when I thought of treating my beloved to a special experience. This was a surprise to her and the whole experience was a pleasant surprise to me as well. Having read some mixed reviews about this place, I thought of taking a chance and it was worth it.

To start with, yes there is a cover charge of Rs.750 and its ladies night on Thursdays; so the lady can drink away to glory...free....of course they have a select range of cocktails and desi drinks....But good enough.....Its free c'mon ! Aaaaannd..The happy hours are until 9.00 pm as well...thanks to the recession I guess !

The ambiance is amazing, with the roof partly covered(with glass ceiling) and the rest open to sky giving you a star-lit view to eternity. A relaxed lounge sitting, with couches and candle lights, a small pool of water and some good music gives you that perfect setting..

The waiter was friendly and when my wife started to order one of those 300+ cocktails, he reminded her of the free ladies night and the drinks that she could order, free of charge. Well that was timely....so she tried out the whole range :-)

The starters are expensive and that was what you can expect from a BJN group restaurant. We being vegetarians, the options were limited but this is a lounge to enjoy the drinks, and gaze at the moon and stars, and spend a good time with your loved ones....so I am not complaining.

We ordered a chilli-corn something, a paneer tikka and a mushroom fry - all of them were just great. The long iceland iced tea I ordered was too sweet and he got both of them together :-( One of the mint cocktails my wife ordered was too full of mint but the whisky sours were just perfect.

There is a restaurant called Cafe Masala and a chinese one attached and just outside this lounge where you can go for a buffet - 399/- plus taxes or Ala'carte at the Chinese place; but we were too full with the starters and drinks and chose to do a take away biryani....from elsewhere :-)

An average evening for two would make you about 1200/- poorer I guess but overall a wonderful experience...highly recommended for some special days.....with that special someone.
