Upper Crust, Prahlad Nagar, Ahmedabad

I recently got the opportunity to visit upper crust, Ahmadabad when I went to my sister home.The ambience was very good and air condition was chilled.SO in this hot summer air condition already lifted my mood up.We had order a a four square pastry, pineapple pastry n a garlic bread.

I had pineapple pastry it was well decorative with a pc of cherry and two pcs of pinapple.Cream was damn yummy and cake was quite spongy.IT  just melted in my mouth .It was very tasty.Then garlic bread was a small bun with pieces cut.IT had green paste on it and it was so yummy that I cant explain.I really loved upper crust.

We went  to Ahmedabad and heard to our surprise that upper crust is the best pastry and cake shop there...so we went there to get a cake for our friend anniversary for which we were there......Well to our shock we saw small cockroaches roaming about in their pastry section.

When we told th attendant standing at the counter that there are cockroaches roaming about ....to yet another shock of ours...HE IGNORED US.We literally had to shout at him to make him remove it...PATHETIC place...POOR HYGIENE....and BAD CUSTOMER Service....no wonder upper crust had to close most of its branches in India..

It was a romantic evening yesterday in Ahmedabd with a good downpour.My husband and I in good mood thought of our fav(which no longer is now) joint Upper Crust to go have sizzlers and celebrate the good weather. We entered the place and chose to sit downstairs in the cafe area, next to our table were sitting 2 men in their 30'is. Hubby and I sat and started ordering and while waiting for the food to arrive started to play hangman and enjoy each other's company.

We were disturbed so much by the guys sitting next to our table they were drunk and were speaking really loudly all the abusive language you can think of.We ignored it for sometime then it went from bad to worst and the tables are close by and the drunk man was maybe enjoying to speak top f his voice all the bad words one can think about it.All the other tables were occupied by families and couples were giving them annoyed look but this did not make the restaurant staff take any action on the drunk man.also the manager was missing and so they just gave it a deaf ear.We could not as we were sitting right next to him, so my husband in a polite tone tried to ask the man to lower down a bit and what you know he stood up and started shouting "What is your F Problem A"..this was the language used one-to-one and still NO MANAGER and NO Staff doing anything.

The  eventually after 10 mins of us arguing and asking for manager the he finally came and asking us to go upstairs int heir fine dining area rather then asking the drunk man to mellow down or to throw him out of the property for spoiling everyone's evening.The behavior of the drunk man was sad and the worst was the restaurant's behavior who did not care if we were bothered and hampered in our lovely evening.We could not enjoy our food still sat and ate as we did not choose to let the drunk man feel he is the god and can make people go-way.But honestly I am hurt by the staff and manager's treatment who did not care for their regular customers and they conviniance and the ambiance of their restaurant.they just gave the whole incidence a blind eye and deaf ear.To top it all after we finished the dinner we asked if we can see the manager and was told he is buys and he would call if we will drop our ph numbers.So the busy manager does not have time now and was doing what??.. isn't this his duty and job to make his customers feel happy and satisfied?..I would request stern action to be taken by the Upper Crust Owners and Management against the current staff and the manager and to make sure along with the food the ambiance is lively and good and not foul and bad mouthed.I wish some action is taken. Otherwise I request everyone to avoid going to this place , and go on your own risk only to spoil your evening as there are many such drunk people sitting and the restaurant staff only encourages them rather then taking any action.So if you go there be prepared to fight or hear foul language.

One of the main challenges for a non-vegetarian in Ahmedabad is to not only find eating joints that serve non-vegetarian food, but more importantly the ones that serve it good.

Upper crust near Vijay char rasta is one of the reliable non-vegetarian restaurants in this city. The place being quite small in size is mostly packed with people and long waiting lists. In this case, an almost snooty gentleman takes down the names for waiting - perhaps the only down point of the restaurant!

The decor is warm and cafe-like. The restaurant is accompanied by an in-house bakery that dishes out good pastries, cakes, tarts and chocolates.

The starters and appetizers are adequate, but the daily specials in the menu are the best bet. Chicken lollypops are good and the only place I think, that serves Fish fingers with actual tartar sauce. I havent tried anything Indian on the menu ever.

The cheese and macaroni are good and more importantly not sweet. The sizzlers are the most popular. The non-veg sizzlers are basically indian/chinese/ italian or continental. The chinese sizzlers were adequate, but in the continental sizzlers, the definite recommendation would be Brown sahib: a chicken steak with brown sauce.

My personal favourite would be the Chef recommends sizzler, which again is a chicken steak with a very unique sauce. The sauce is a little thick in consistency, red and slightly spicy. Bu it is absolutely tasty and unlike any Ive had anywhere else, in any city.

A table for two is impossible to find on weekends, and a coulpe would normally be given the bar counter to dine at. So, a visit on weekdays is always preferable to avoid a waiting period of atleast half an hour.

A meal for two non-vegetarians with starters+ main course+ drink would come upto Rs.300-350.

If ahmedabad has something that makes it kool besides the sarabhais it is upper crust

The place is absolutely great. The ambience borders b/w functional and good.The manager Arvind knows me by face by now....so getting a table is much easier.Anyways MICAns and IIM guys made the place.

The sizzlers are cheap and extremely tasty and the brown sauce is bang on consistency and taste though it gets a little pungent sometimes

The Pot -pourri is a great way to start a great meal. The quantity is just right for 2 people to share and yet leave space for half a sizzlr and a dessert.

The pizzas are avoidable and so is the chinese Sizzler..it is a bit to spicy.

There is always space for the Chocolate Truffle which is just perfect.The BEST

The tiramisu is good as well and can be ''picked up''.If you want to pack something take a few hand made chocolates which come at five bucks each. It is a steal

All in all Upper crust is a must for anybody who vists Ahmedabad and If someone needs a reason to visit Ahmedabad it is Upper Crust.

Definitely worth it.

Upper crust serves excellent non veg food. The chicken sandwiches are awesome!! The make the best Black Forrest pastries/cakes in town. I have never had such lovely pastries. They beat even Mongini which is suppose to be older and better!! The ambience is also too good. Its a very good place if one wants to come and enjoy with their friends. Their service is also as good as their as the food. The only drawback being that the sizzlers that they serve almost taste the same whether it is vegetarian or non-vegetarian. They only need too improve on the sizzlers. Their vegetarian food is also as good as the non-vegetarian food. The locality of the restaurant is prime: its situated near all the colleges which is an advantage for them. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK GUYS!!! Upper crust is the most preferred restaurant in town. Nice place. The quantity given in one dish is enough for two people. The staff does a good job as well.
